Two fires in the community of Falcon Ridge keep Fire Crews busy

Earlier this evening the Calgary Fire Department extinguished two non related building fires in the community of Falcon Ridge.  At approximately 10:15 this evening, Fire Crews responded to the first building fire which was on Falcon Ridge Blvd. Upon arrival they discovered a small restaurant with light smoke coming from the building.  Further investigation revealed that a fire had indeed been burning for an unknown period of time in the restaurant. Although the fire was mostly out upon arrival, the Crews were kept busy extinguishing the remaining fire load, over hauling the building and checking for extension. Just as the Fire Fighters were clearing from this call (11:30 PM) a second building fire was reported on Fallingworth Court, just a few blocks away. This time crews arrived to find a fully involved single family dwelling. The Fire Fighters quickly took action to stop the spread of the fire to the adjacent homes, once this was established they began an interior attack on the fire. Although there was significant damage to the house of origin, the fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished with only minor damage to the houses next door. At the present times crews remain on scene overhauling the home looking for hot spots. No one was hurt at either fire and the Investigation into the causes has commenced.
