Calgary Fire Crews Battle Pineridge Balcony Fire

At approximately 12:30 on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 16th, multiple calls starting coming in to Calgary 9-1-1 to report a fire. The fire was located on a balcony of a multi-residential building on Pinestream Way N.E. The fire on the third floor balcony was described by callers as fully involved and climbing toward the balcony above. Fire crews quickly knocked the fire down and prevented further damage to other nearby suites. In addition to multiple engines, a ladder truck was used for elevated firefighting and potential rescues.

One adult male was found by CPS officers inside the building, brought to a waiting EMS crew and taken to hospital with some burn injuries and smoke inhalation. The fire breached the suite of origin and caused significant fire and smoke damage. The suite above also sustained damage as a result of the fire. Fire investigators are on the scene to determine the origin and cause of this fire. If any members of the public have photos or video especially prior to CFD arrival on scene, please email them to piofire@calgary.ca  Other residents temporarily evacuated are expected to be allowed back in once air monitoring inside the building shows levels of carbon monoxide have dropped to zero.
