Calgary Fire Department responds to multiple house fire in Saddle Ridge.

At approximately 8:00  on the evening of Wednesday, July 5, Calgary 911 received several calls with reports of a garage fire on Savanna Way NE.

The Calgary Fire Department(CFD) was dispatched to the address and found a  two storey home along with a detached garage fully involved with fire and flames spreading to the house next door. Crews quickly started a fire attack while checking for occupants of both the source home and exposed home on the one side. Due to the size of the fire, aerial streams and large volume hose lines were required to attack the fire and protect other exposed homes. The residents of the impacted home safely self evacuated prior to CFD arrival.

The source home and neighbouring home suffered extensive damage and will be uninhabitable, there were another four homes that had exterior damage to siding, residents were allowed back into these homes after the fire was out and crews did air quality testing. Crews will be on scene through the night monitoring the involved structures for any hotspots.

Alberta Health Services(AHS) were on scene however no injuries were reported. Calgary Police Services(CPS) were also dispatched to scene to assist with safety and the control of traffic in the area.

The Calgary Fire Department fire investigators will be on scene working to determine the  origin and cause of this fire.
