Calgary Fire Department responds to structure fire in Bowness

Shortly before 5:00 AM this morning the Calgary Fire Department(CFD) responded to reports of a structure fire in the 7000 block of 41 Avenue NW.

On arrival crews were met with smoke and flames on the exterior of  a 2 story  4 plex, an aggressive fire attack was initiated along with a primary and secondary search of the premises. The residence has been vacant since February of 2022 based on an order from Alberta Health Services so no occupants were found or required evacuation. A second alarm was called to ensure enough resources were on scene in the case the fire reach the roof structure. At the time of this report fire crews are being returned. The flow of utilities is being controlled by Enmax and ATCO.

Calgary Police Services(CPS) are on scene as there were reports of people fleeing from the area as emergency crews arrived. The CFD Investigator is on scene and will be work with CPS to determine the origin and cause of the fire.

Fire crews will remain on scene to ensure the fire is completely extinguished and the property is safely secured.
