Calgary Fire Department responds to downtown warehouse fire

At just after 3:00 am this morning the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) responded to a 911 call out with reports of smoke and fire at an abandoned warehouse in the 400 block of 7 Avenue SE. First arriving crews encountered significant smoke and fire visible from the exterior of the building.

Crews quickly gained access and initiated an aggressive interior attack. Upon interior conditions changing, crews exited and worked hard to extinguish the flames and protect exposures from a defensive position. At the time of this report CFD is on scene working to fully extinguish the fire and initiate an investigation.

Calgary Transit operations have been impacted and shut down at the incident site.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) were on scene to assist with any injuries, no injuries have been reported at this time.

Calgary Police Services (CPS) were also on scene to assist with traffic control and scene safety. Atco and Enmax were dispatched and ensured there were no hazards relating to services.

A CFD Investigator is on scene working to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
