Speed considered to be a factor in serious-injury collision

Earlier this week, our Traffic Unit responded to a serious-injury collision involving a motorcycle and a car that has left one man in life-threatening condition.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, a motorcycle operated by a man in his 40s was observed by police to be without a license plate. After the driver of the motorcycle noticed police nearby, he continued to travel westbound on 32 Avenue N.E., at a high rate of speed approaching Sixth Street N.E.

At the same time, a car operated by a man in his 30s was travelling southbound on Sixth Street, and turned eastbound onto 32 Avenue N.E. It is believed the motorcycle failed to stop at a red light and struck the car

The motorcyclist was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he remains. The driver of the car was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Speed is considered to be a factor in this collision.
