Calgary Fire Crews Fight North East Structure Fire

At approximately 2:20 on Wednesday afternoon, July 5, Calgary fire crews responded to a structure fire at the 300 block of Coventry Close North East.  As the first responding fire crew  was leaving 31 station, black smoke could be seen in the distance and thus the captain called a second alarm  for additional resources.  On arrival at the scene, firefighters encountered a shed  fully involved  with fire  located in the backyard with flames spreading to the house on the same property.  Firefighters were able to quickly knock the fire down, limiting damage to the house and neighbouring buildings.

Four residents from the source house as well as a total of three other residents from the homes on either side were evacuated for their safety.

No injuries were reported and a fire investigator attended the scene to determine the origin and cause.  A neighbour's house sustained some heat damage to the siding. The house on the same property as the shed will need extensive repairs to the main floor and parts of the second floor due to the smoke and fire that made its way inside.
