Calgary fire crews quickly extinguish Abbeydale house fire

At approximately 2:15 this afternoon, Calgary fire crews were called to home on Abalone Way NE for reports of a fire. When firefighters arrived, they found flames at the outside of the back of the house. Upon entering the residence to search for any occupants, they found the kitchen to be full of thick black smoke.

Firefighters did a quick knockdown, containing damage to the house of origin. One adult and two young children had self evacuated prior to CFD arrival on scene.

Fire crews who entered the home did not hear any sounds of smoke alarms having been activated.

Damage to the kitchen is extensive with smoke damage throughout the home. Calgary Fire Department Fire Investigator is currently on scene to determine the origin and cause of this fire.
