Calgary fire crews get quick knockdown at southeast metal recycling facility

At approximately 12:20 Tuesday afternoon, Calgary fire crews were called to the 3400 block of Ogden Road S.E. for reports of an outdoor fire. On arrival, firefighters encountered a fire that was coming from a metal shredding machine located at the west end of the compound.

Fire crews achieved a quick knockdown and successfully prevented the fire from spreading to other machinery and debris piles. No injuries were reported as a result of this fire and damage to the shredder is considered minor.

A Calgary Fire Department fire investigator attended the scene to determine the exact origin and cause of the fire. Anybody with photos or video of the fire, especially prior to CFD arrival on scene, is asked to please email them to piofire@calgary.ca
