Kensington gas line break

Today at approximately 9am The Calgary Fire Department was called out to a gas line break at 200 block of 11st NW.

As a result of the break 19 homes have been evacuated and gas has been shut off to more 400 homes in the area. As a result The Calgary Emergency Management Agency has opened the EOC. 

Please note that there are road closure in the immediate area.

To ensure resident safety, a perimeter has been established around the area. The following area is affected: Kensington Road to the south,  5th Avenue to the north, 10th Street to the east and 14th Street to the west. If you are a resident in this area and you are in your home, you must take the following steps:

  1. Turn off all fans and furnaces in your home.
  2. Make sure all doors and windows are closed.
  3. Do not leave your home.

For your safety, do not attempt to enter the area.

There may be road closures around the area may be affected – please avoid the area until further notice.
