Woman charged in assault on taxi driver

A woman has been charged in relation to an assault on a taxi driver that took place in August.

At approximately 3:20 a.m., on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, a taxi picked up a woman in the area of 1 Street and 4 Avenue S.E. and drove her to a home in the Sandarac area.  During the journey, the passenger vomited within the taxi cab. The driver provided the passenger with a bag and continued on to the destination.

Once at the residence, the passenger continued to vomit on the exterior of the vehicle. The driver requested a clean-up fee, at which point the passenger became abusive towards the driver and threw the bag full of vomit on him, covering his clothes, phone, car seat and floor mats.

Police were called and the passenger’s family paid the clean-up fee and fare.

Selena NARAYAN-LACHAPELLE, 33, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of common assault. She will next appear in court on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015.
