Between Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, and Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, it is believed the group unlawfully entered three unoccupied properties that were listed for sale in Whitehorn, causing more than $300,000 in damage. While inside the properties, the youths smashed windows, toilets, sinks, walls and doors. In one of the residences, water was left running, causing significant water damage.

The suspects are described as three youths, believed to be between 10 and 16 years old, who were seen riding a scooter, an electric scooter and a bicycle in the area.

Due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, images of the youths cannot be released; however, blurred images are available below.

Investigators are working to identify the individuals involved and are asking anyone with information about the incidents to come forward.

After being released from custody in July, the offender was soon found to be in violation of release orders after he was observed actively breaking into a construction site and stealing electrical wire earlier this month.

In the evening hours of Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, the offender was seen entering a new-home construction site located in the 4800 block of Voyageur Drive N.W., and operating a motor vehicle contrary to a release order. He was arrested without incident, and officers seized a sawed-off shotgun with a defaced serial number along with ammunition.

As a result, Logan Donald SMITH, 29, is charged with:

• Two counts of driving while prohibited
• One count of break and enter to commit
• One count of possession of break and enter tools
• Two counts of theft of a motor vehicle
• One count of mischief over $5,000
• One count of possession of stolen property

• One count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon

The recent two-day operation brought together members of our District 2 Patrol and Patrol Support Teams and the Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team, FASST. The initiative focused on locating wanted individuals, improving public safety and furthering investigations.

The operation was planned over several weeks, with analytical resources preparing and reviewing approximately 120 information packages before officers were deployed. During the operation, members attended 66 residences throughout Calgary.

The operation resulted in:

• 15 individuals arrested
• 51 warrants executed, including one Canada-wide warrant
• Five criminal charges laid
• 34 investigations

In addition to arrests, investigators gathered information about the possible whereabouts of wanted individuals, verified addresses, developed new investigative leads and updated records to support future enforcement efforts.

It is believed a woman in her 80s was walking through the parking lot with the assistance of a mobility walker when she was struck by a vehicle reversing from a parking stall. The vehicle was being driven by a woman in her 70s.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The driver was not injured.

At this time, it is too early to determine whether impairment, speed or distraction contributed to the collision. All possible factors remain under investigation.

At approximately 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, we responded to reports of a parked vehicle rolling backward in the 0-100 block of Cedardale Hill S.W.

It is believed the vehicle struck the victim, knocking them to the ground. The victim was transported to hospital suffering from life-threatening injuries.

A second victim attempted to enter the moving vehicle to stop it but was knocked down in the process. The second victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

It is too early to confirm the factors that contributed to the collision. All possible contributing factors are still under investigation.

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at approximately 9:28 a.m. it is believed that a male and female entered a business located at 500 17 Avenue S.W. and requested water.  

After being advised that payment was required, the female became disruptive, throwing coffee cups from the counter onto the floor and taking a banana without paying. 

As the employee was attempting to escort the two individuals from the business, the female suspect is believed to have assaulted the employee before fleeing with the male suspect. 

The female suspect is described as between 12 to 18 years old, with medium, dark hair. At the time incident, she was wearing an all-black tracksuit with black shoes. 

The male suspect is described as between 12 to 18 years old. At the time of the incident, he was wearing an all-black tracksuit with a white stripe down the arms, a black hat, black shoes and was carting a longboard.

The checks were conducted from Tuesday, Sept. 15, through Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, in partnership with Sheriff Highway Patrol (SHP), Alberta Transportation Vehicle Safety and Economic Corridors, Airdrie Bylaw, and The City of Calgary.

In that time, a total of 197 vehicles were inspected, with the following results:

·         100 vehicles were found to have critical defects that placed them out of service. (51 per cent)

·         36 vehicles were found to have major defects that required attention. (18 per cent)

·         61 vehicles passed with no critical defects. (31 per cent)

A total of 98 violation tickets were issued. Additionally, one driver was charged for operating a commercial vehicle without a valid license.

Among the most common defects to be found were worn tires, poorly secured cargo, and inadequate brakes.  Additionally, defective headlights, faulty steering systems, and leaking fuel tanks were also found.

“Commercial vehicle drivers perform a critical service for Calgarians, transporting important goods we all rely on,” said Insp. Robert Patterson, with the Calgary Police Traffic Unit. “However, it’s critical that those vehicles meet all legal standards to ensure the safety of everyone on the road.”

The percentage of vehicles placed out of service during this inspection (51 per cent) was slightly higher than during the inspection event that took place in the spring (48 per cent).

The North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria is the pass-fail criteria for inspections and identifies critical violations that can prohibit a motor carrier or driver from operating a commercial motor vehicle for a specified period of time, or until the condition is corrected.

At around 3:55 a.m., today Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, officers responded to reports of a shooting outside a residence in the 0-100 block of Martin Crossing Park N.E.

The suspect is believed to have fled the area in a dark-coloured vehicle.

No injuries were reported and no one is in custody at this time. Early information suggests this was a targeted incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.

On Thursday, July 2, 2026, police were called for reports of a woman in medical distress outside of a restaurant in the 9600 block of Macleod Trail S.W. Witnesses reported that the woman had been using a portable washroom when two men walked up to the washroom and tipped it over with the door toward the pavement, leaving the woman trapped inside. The men then fled.

The witnesses assisted the woman out of the washroom, called police and rendered first aid on the scene. The victim was transported to hospital for exposure to waste matter and toxic chemicals. She has since recovered.

Following an investigation by our Hate Crime Prevention Team, which included reviewing CCTV and speaking with witnesses and the victim, it is believed the men made comments targeting the victim based on gender and ethnicity, and hate-motivation has been deemed a factor in the assault.

As a result, two men were arrested in connection with the incident.

Tyson David CANN, 24, of Calgary, was charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and will next appear in court on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.

Fynn Storm FERRIER, 24, of Kimberley B.C., was charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and will next appear in court on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026.

“This was a degrading and harmful assault that left the victim trapped, injured and in need of medical care,” says Sergeant Chelsea Francois of the Calgary Police Service’s Hate Crime Prevention Team. “Hate-motivated crimes have a deep impact, not only on the person targeted but on the broader community. There is no place for hate in our city. If you see hate, report it.”

Any evidence of hate motivation is considered by the courts after a person is found guilty of the connected crime. If the judge decides during sentencing that hate was a motivation for the offence, it is an aggravating factor that can add to the convicted person’s sentence.

On Friday, Sept. 18, shortly before 6 a.m., someone accessed the personal vehicle of a Public Safety Unit paramedic, which was parked in the 100 block of Covebrook Place, N.E.

The suspect took a bag that contained paramedic equipment and uniforms.

We do not believe the paramedic’s vehicle was targeted, as some of the gear was found discarded nearby, and two people were recorded on CCTV attempting to open several other vehicles around the same time.

The first suspect was wearing a black motocross-type helmet and was carrying a blue cooler and large bag.

The second suspect was wearing a hooded sweater under a two-tone jacket with reflective strips on the wrists and shoulders. They were also carrying a backpack.

On Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at approximately 11 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on an occupied truck parked outside of the Red Carpet Inn, located at 4635 16 Ave. N.W.

The license plate was not registered to the vehicle and the driver did not have a valid licence. 

Officers determined the vehicle was stolen and arrested the driver. They subsequently searched his hotel room and recovered a loaded AR-15 – style rifle, with the serial number removed, along with several magazines, a suppressor, ammunition and cell phones.

Our Traffic Section is investigating a serious, life-threatening collision involving a school bus and a pedestrian that occurred yesterday afternoon in the southwest community of Somerset.

At approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, a collision involving a school bus and a pedestrian occurred near the intersection of 162 Avenue and Sixth Street S.W. The pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, was transported to hospital as a precaution with what were initially believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. However, her condition has since deteriorated, and she is now in serious, life-threatening condition.

At approximately 12:05 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, a blue Subaru WRX was travelling north on Deerfoot Trail, approaching an unrelated collision scene that had temporarily closed the road. The driver attempted to exit onto 17 Avenue S to avoid the closure, lost control and rolled several times. The vehicle narrowly missed first responders and road crews at the scene who were responding to the earlier collision. Two passengers were ejected.

Two passengers, a 14-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman, were transported to hospital with serious, life-altering injuries. A third passenger, a 23-year-old man, was also transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, was taken into custody and transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The two men and the 14-year-old girl have since been released from hospital. The 19-year-old woman remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision.

After speaking with witnesses, investigators believe several vehicles may have been racing before the collision. Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage from northbound Deerfoot Trail in the moments leading up to the collision to come forward.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

In June 2026, after information from two overdose death investigations identified a suspected drug trafficker, the District Operations Team (DOT) from District 8 launched an investigation.

On Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, investigators arrested the suspect after observing activity consistent with drug trafficking. Officers then executed search warrants at a residence in the 200 block of Autumn Green S.E. in Auburn Bay and a second location in the 14400 block of Mount McKenzie Drive S.E. in McKenzie Lake, believed to be associated with the operation.

While preparing to execute the search warrant at the Auburn Bay residence, a woman was observed removing items from the home. Officers subsequently located evidence believed to be associated with drug trafficking, and she was arrested.

During the execution of the warrants, officers located and seized:

• $46,640 in Canadian currency
• $180 in American currency
• One rifle and two shotguns, along with six magazines and 148 rounds of ammunition
• 1,980.1 grams of cocaine (estimated street value of $19,801)
• 569.7 grams of psilocybin (estimated street value of $11,394)
• 207.7 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $4,154)
• 593 codeine pills (estimated street value of $2,965)
• 127 Adderall pills (estimated street value of $1,270)
• 49 tabs of LSD (estimated street value of $490)
• Seven morphine pills (estimated street value of $140)
• 6,200 contraband cigarettes (estimated street value of $1,543)
• Drug trafficking paraphernalia, including scales, packaging materials and a vacuum sealer
• Electronic devices and documents related to the investigation

Investigators also seized 11 kilograms of an unknown powder, which has been submitted for analysis.

As a result of the investigation, Ryan Allan SINCLAIR, 34, has been charged with:

• 10 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
• One count of fraud over $5,000
• One count of possession of property obtained by crime
• One count of careless storage of a firearm
• One count of unsafe storage of ammunition

Brigitte Conchita PETERS-PALMA, 34, has been charged with:

• Four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking

SINCLAIR, who was remanded in custody, and PETERS-PALMA are next scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026.

“This investigation removed a substantial quantity of illicit drugs from our community and disrupted drug trafficking activity,” says District 8 Insp. Darry Midtdal. “The seizure of firearms alongside these drugs highlights the serious public safety risks that can accompany the drug trade. We will continue working to remove dangerous substances from our streets and hold traffickers accountable.”

On Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, at approximately 5 p.m., the woman received a phone call from an unknown man claiming to be from her bank’s “Fraud Department.” The suspect asked the victim to verify several “fraudulent” transactions on her credit card before telling her the card had been frozen to prevent further fraudulent activity.

The suspect then directed the victim to cut up her credit card and place it in an envelope to be picked up by a courier driving a silver Honda CRV.

The victim was contacted again by the suspect, who asked her to confirm her old personal identification number (PIN) and to verify a new PIN for her new card that would later be sent to her in the mail.

The next day, on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, the victim’s credit card had several unverified transactions, totalling $25,824.

The victim contacted her bank directly and determined that her original card had never been frozen. She then contacted police who began investigating.

On Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of 15 Ave. S.W., and seized the following items:

• One black replica pellet handgun
• One conducted energy weapon
• One retractable baton
• Numerous canisters of bear spray
• One backpack full of .22 ammunition
• A device used to access vehicle computer systems and steal cars
• Several pieces of identification, documents and bank cards that are believed to be connected to stolen vehicles and fraudulent activity
• Two stolen motorcycles recovered across the street and believed to be connected to the residence

 As a result, four men were arrested and charged:

• Badr Ghassan Salim AL-SAFFAR, 28, is charged with four counts of breaching a release order, including cutting off his ankle monitor. He remains in custody.
   
• Brandon Laroy FORDHAM, 31, is charged with two counts of breaching a release order and has two warrants out for his arrest. 
   
• Jordan Tyler OLDFORD, 37, is charged with two counts of fraud over $5,000, three counts of uttering a forged document and possession of a stolen bank card, and three counts of breaching a release order. 
   
• Jeremy SAUVE, 41, is charged with eight weapons-related breaches of a release order, and one count each of fraud over $5,000, possession of a forged bank card, possession of a stolen bank card, uttering a forged document, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and possession of instruments of forgery.

AL-SAFFAR, OLDFORD and SAUVE are scheduled to next appear in court today, Monday, Sept. 14, 2026.

“Thanks to prompt action from the victim in reporting this incident to police and alerting her bank, we were able to investigate and quickly apprehend several individuals who have participated in bank and courier scams,” says Inspector Scott Neilson of the Calgary Police Service. “If someone contacts you claiming to be from your bank and asks for your PIN, bank card, cash or valuables to be picked up by a courier, it is a scam. Hang up, contact your bank directly and speak with a trusted family member or friend before taking any action. A few minutes of verification can prevent a significant financial loss.”

Sometime between Friday, June 13, and Sunday, June 15, 2026, an unknown person broke into a home located in the 4000 block of Vegas Way N.W., and stole 20 3D printers, along with printer accessories, worth more than $20,000.

Several days later, the victim of the theft saw many of the stolen items being sold online, identifiable by several unique markings.

He contacted police who began investigating.

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, we executed a search warrant at a home in the 4700 block of Dalton Drive N.W., and recovered 17 3D printers, as well as six spools of printer filament.  Photos of some of the recovered printers and accessories are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

As a result, Brent KUZMA, 41, of Calgary, is charged with:

·        One count of trafficking in stolen goods over $5,000

·        One count of possession of stolen property over $5,000

·        Two counts of failing to comply with release orders

“This is a good reminder that if you locate your stolen items online, to alert the police and don’t confront anyone yourself,” said Insp. Colleen Bowers, District 7, Calgary Police Service. “It’s also a reminder for buyers to authenticate the origin of items purchased online.”

KUZMA is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026.

On Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, at approximately 10 p.m., police were called for multiple reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Carrington Boulevard N.W.

It was reported that at least two vehicles were involved in a shooting, resulting in one of the vehicles coming to a stop near 144 Avenue N.W. and Carrington Boulevard N.W.

Witnesses reported that the suspects then fled in an unknown vehicle.

Upon arrival to the scene, police located one victim, a 19-year-old man, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital in serious but stable condition.

At this time, there are no suspects in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

While it is believed the shooting was a targeted incident, any act of violence in our city is deeply concerning and is taken very seriously. Targeted does not mean harmless and these incidents can and do put innocent people at risk.

On Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, the victim attended a residence in the 500 block of 40 Avenue N.W., where he allegedly consumed alcohol, drugs and a substance believed to be gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB).

Shortly after consuming the substance, the victim became ill and lost consciousness. When he awoke the following morning, he discovered his vehicle, keys and wallet were missing.

The victim later learned that more than $7,000 in unauthorized purchases had been made using his financial accounts through his cellphone. Investigators also determined that approximately $30,000 in fraudulent cheque deposits had been made.

Following an investigation by District 3, investigators identified two individuals who were allegedly involved in supplying drugs to the victim and had access to his property before it was stolen.

On Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, investigators arrested one suspect and executed a search warrant at the residence connected to the investigation.

As a result, Spencer Ryan STOLK, 37, has been charged with one count each of:

·         Possession of methamphetamine

·         Administering a noxious substance

·         Theft under $5,000

·         Fraud over $5,000

STOLK remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, a woman began receiving demands for money through WhatsApp text and voice messages. In the messages, the suspects used detailed knowledge of the victim’s personal and business affairs, including her full name, address, business information and information about her family members. The caller repeatedly attempted to contact the victim and made explicit threats of violence.

Approximately 12 hours later, just before 4:30 a.m., an unknown suspect fired a gun at the victim’s residence before fleeing in a vehicle.

After collecting physical and digital evidence, including CCTV footage from the area, investigators identified a suspect vehicle and several possible suspects.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, a 17-year-old male was arrested for his involvement in facilitating the communication between the victim and those making threats. He was charged with one count of extortion and has since been released from custody. The youth cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

As the investigation continued, investigators arrested a woman on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, who allegedly provided personal information about the victim that enabled suspects to identify, locate and intimidate the victim and her family.

Kanureet KAUR, 23, of Chestermere, has been charged with one count of extortion. She has since been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026.

Investigators are also seeking public assistance to locate a third individual wanted on a warrant in relation to the possession of a stolen vehicle used during the shooting.

Tanveer SINGH, 21, of Calgary, is wanted on a warrant for possession of stolen property over $5,000. SINGH is described as 5’8” tall and approximately 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. A photo of SINGH is available below. 

Since this series began in April 2025, there have been 51 extortion-related incidents in Calgary. Nineteen shootings have been linked to the series, targeting both extortion victims and suspects. To date, 19 people have been charged with 59 offences in relation to the Calgary series.

The trial will assess the effectiveness of drones in improving situational awareness, supporting operational decision-making and enhancing public and officer safety.

Beginning Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, two Skydio X10 drones will be deployed to select incidents in northeast and southeast Calgary. The drones will provide responding members with real-time aerial information to help them better understand unfolding incidents and determine the most appropriate response.

“The Drone as First Responder model has been successfully implemented by other police agencies and has shown potential to enhance emergency response,” says Supt. Jodi Gach of the Calgary Police Service Operational Support Division. “This trial will help us determine how the technology can support public safety in Calgary by providing responding officers with valuable information about an incident, often before they arrive on scene.”

The drones are deployed from a secure location in northeast Calgary. When an eligible call for service is identified, a sworn CPS member trained as a drone pilot can remotely deploy a drone to the scene. In some cases, the drone may arrive before responding officers, providing an early view of the incident that can help members identify risks, locate individuals and make informed operational decisions.

While we have used drones for several years to support public safety operations, including emergency incidents, searches and investigations, DFR introduces a new deployment model that allows drones to respond directly to select calls for service and provide information during the early stages of an incident.

The use of drones for the trial has been approved by Transport Canada. The trial will be conducted in accordance with Transport Canada regulations and CPS policies.

On Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at approximately 3:45 p.m., a green, 2003 Ford F-150 was travelling east on the ramp from Crowchild Trail to southbound Stoney Trail, N.W.

The driver, a man in his 60s, appears to have lost control of the vehicle while negotiating the curve, resulting in it rolling over.

The truck came to rest, upside down, on the east side of the roadway.

The driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in this collision. Excessive speed is being investigated as a possible factor.

On Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, at approximately 12:10 p.m., a Calgary man was shopping with his family at a Safeway located at 2525 Woodview Drive S.W., when an unknown man approached the family, making political comments about Canadian and American tariffs.

The suspect became agitated and started shouting anti-Canadian and pro-American remarks and later threatened to retrieve a shotgun and shoot the other man.

After store staff intervened, the suspect approached the family a second time before being escorted out of the store.

Police identified the suspect based on witness reports and observed the suspect at a nearby residence in the 400 block of Woodside Road S.W., armed with a handgun. Officers heard a gunshot fired inside the residence, but no injures were reported and there were no additional occupants inside the residence.

At approximately 12:53 p.m., the suspect was arrested at the residence, and police executed a search warrant, seizing the following items:

• A .40-calibre pistol (unloaded)
• A loaded 12-guage shotgun
• A Glock replica BB gun
• Loaded magazines and ammunition

As a result, James Dean GARRIOCK, 49, is charged with:

• One count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm to a person
• One count of possession of an unlicensed weapon
• One count of discharge of a firearm with intent while being reckless
• Two counts of careless storage of a firearm

GARRIOCK will next appear in court on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026.

“This was an extremely dangerous situation that could have turned out much worse than it did,” says Staff Sgt. Joe Hebert of the District 6 General Investigations Unit. “Situations like this can change quickly, and thanks to the witnesses, District 6 patrol members, the CPS Tactical Support Unit and other resources across the Service, we were able to quickly locate and safely apprehend the suspect before he further endangered the community.”

On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at approximately 3 a.m., an on-duty security guard approached a woman in the neighbourhood of Forest Lawn. It is alleged the security guard drove the woman to an industrial area in the city’s southeast where he sexually assaulted her inside his company vehicle. 

Following a review of the vehicle’s in-car camera, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, the incident was reported to police by the security company.  

Investigators from the Sexual Assault Investigative Unit were assigned and worked to identify and locate the victim.  

After speaking with the victim and collecting additional evidence, on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, one man was arrested.  

Muhammad HUSSAIN, 34, of Calgary, has been charged with one count each of sexual assault and forcible confinement. 

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026

At approximately 4:20 p.m. yesterday, Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, we responded to reports of a single-vehicle motorcycle collision on Symons Valley Parkway N.W., near the intersection of Evanston View N.W.

It is believed a motorcycle, operated by a 19-year-old man, was approaching the intersection of Evanston View N.W. when it struck a curb and lost control resulting in the motorcycle striking a fire hydrant before coming to a rest.

As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was declared deceased at the scene.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision; however, excessive speed is being investigated as a factor.

Police are seeking information from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage related to the incident. They are also looking to locate a black helmet believed to have been worn by the motorcyclist at the time of the collision.

At approximately 9:40 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, a passenger was exiting a Calgary Transit bus at the stop located at Beddington Boulevard N.W. and Centre Street N., when she fell and was struck by the bus as it left the stop.

The pedestrian, an 80-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital with serious, life-altering injuries. The driver of the bus was not injured and remained at the scene.

Investigators believe the same three suspects were involved in incidents at Luxe Du Jour, located at #1010, 605 Fifth Ave. S.W., on Sunday, June 14, 2026, and Saturday, July 25, 2026.

At approximately 1:25 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, it is believed that three suspects entered the building through an emergency exit door and forced entry through secured areas of the building before breaking into the store.

Once inside, they stole a variety of designer handbags, wallets, belts and accessories valued at approximately $144,470, including items from Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Hermès, Saint Laurent, Gucci and Prada.

At approximately 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, it is believed the suspects returned and again forced entry into the store, stealing about 17 handbags.

During both incidents, CCTV footage captured the suspects arriving and leaving in vehicles that were later determined to be stolen. Both vehicles have since been recovered; however, the suspects remain unidentified.

The suspects were dressed in dark clothing and wore hats, hoods, masks and gloves.

Due to similarities in the two break-ins, including the suspects’ appearance and behaviour, investigators believe the incidents are connected and are asking anyone with information to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.

On Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, shortly after 9 a.m., a 79-year-old man was driving a 2016 GMC Canyon west along the 7200 block of Bowness Road N.W., when his vehicle crossed the centre line, colliding head-on with a City of Calgary transit bus. 

The driver and occupants of the transit bus were not hurt, however the driver of the GMC Canyon was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition. 

Sadly, on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, he succumbed to his injuries. 

Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors in this collision.

On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at approximately 1:50 p.m., the man was driving a 2015 BMW south on Crowchild Trail, N.W., when he suddenly slowed near 32 Avenue N.W. 

As a result, a 2024 Toyota Tacoma, also travelling south in the same lane, driven by a 57-year-old man, rear-ended the BMW.  The BMW’s driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital. He died in hospital on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026. 

The driver of the Toyota, along with his two nine-year-old passengers, sustained minor injuries. 

Speed, alcohol, and drugs do not appear to be factors in this collision. However, the medical fitness of the BMW driver is being investigated.

On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at approximately 11:20 p.m., a woman called police after she noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in the 800 block of Stonehaven Road S.W. The woman then saw what appeared to be two unknown individuals underneath her vehicle, who then retreated to a truck and left the area.

Police spotted the truck approximately five minutes later and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Southampton Drive S.W., north of Elbow Drive S.W. The suspect failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.

HAWCS was engaged to safely observe the vehicle, which was driving recklessly and operating at dangerous speeds though neighbourhoods, and on major roadways while passing vehicles on the shoulder.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., an unknown woman exited the vehicle and was unable to be located.

Shortly after, officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device as the vehicle travelled northbound on Elbow Drive S.W.

At midnight, the suspect abandoned the vehicle, which was determined to be stolen, and entered a residence in the 11100 block of Sacramento Drive S.W. The suspect was arrested at approximately 12:20 a.m.

“With the help of HAWCS, patrol members, and our Canine and Tactical Support Units, we were able to safely apprehend the suspect who endangered the lives of Calgarians with their blatant disregard for public safety as they sped through residential areas, intersections and busy roads,” says Insp. Scott Neilson of the Calgary Police Service. “This is a great example of teamwork and coordination of multiple resources across the Service to protect the community and hold people accountable for their actions.”

Police conducted a search of the stolen vehicle and seized the following items:

• Two stolen Alberta licence plates
• A stolen 2021 Haro bicycle valued at $729
• A bag of break and enter tools including a crowbar, screw drivers and wrenches
• Stolen vehicle insurance and registration documents

As a result, Travis Lee CRAMER, 31, is charged with:

• One count of flight from police
• One count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
• One count of operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited
• Six counts of possession of stolen property
• One count of possession of break and enter tools

CRAMER is also facing two charges under the Traffic Safety Act for driving without insurance and unauthorized use of plates. 

He is scheduled to next appear in court on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026.

Safety tips for back-to-school

We encourage children of all ages to:

·        Know their full name, age, address and contact numbers (home, work and cell).

·        Stay aware of their surroundings when walking to and from school.

·        Travel with friends whenever possible.

·        Know trusted adults they can contact if they need help.

·        Report bullying, threats or suspicious activity to a parent, teacher or police.

·        Be cautious about sharing personal information online.

·        Think carefully before posting photos, videos or comments on social media.

·        Speak with a trusted adult if they encounter concerning content or interactions online.

Tips for young drivers

As more teens return to school behind the wheel, the CPS reminds young drivers to:

·        Slow down and watch for increased pedestrian traffic near schools.

·        Obey posted speed limits, especially around schools and in playground zones.

·        Eliminate distractions by putting phones and other devices away while driving.

·        Leave extra time to get to school and avoid rushing.

·        Watch carefully for cyclists, students crossing roadways and school buses.

Tips for parents and caregivers

Parents dropping children off at school can help keep everyone safe by:

·        Following all school traffic signs and directions.

·        Using designated drop-off and pick-up areas.

·        Avoiding double parking or stopping in crosswalks.

·        Watching for children who may unexpectedly enter the roadway.

·        Giving themselves extra travel time during the first few weeks of school.

New youth safety initiatives

This school year, the CPS is expanding its youth safety education efforts with the launch of Simon Says, a new safety-awareness campaign for children in kindergarten through Grade 5. The initiative provides age-appropriate safety messages through schools, newsletters and school outreach, helping younger children build positive safety habits early in life.

The CPS has also expanded its digital outreach to older youth through its growing social media presence, including TikTok. The platform will be used to share safety information and engage youth on topics such as online safety, digital citizenship and making informed decisions both online and in the community. The initiative aligns with the Service's youth-focused education and awareness efforts aimed at students in Grades 6 to 12.

By combining in-person education, community engagement and digital outreach, the CPS continues to support youth safety and help young people develop the knowledge and skills they need to navigate today's increasingly connected world.

Speeding fines reflect how fast drivers are travelling over the limit. Speeds more than 50 km/h over the speed limit result in an appearance before a judge.

There are 57 Intersection Safety Camera (ISC) sites throughout the city that can capture red light infractions. Five sites can also capture speed-on-green infractions. These cameras continue to reduce collisions and foster a safer driving environment at our intersections.

We continue to work with The City of Calgary to implement the Safer Mobility Plan with the common goal of Vision Zero – mobility free of fatalities and major injuries.

On Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, at approximately 12:55 a.m., we were called to the 1100 block of Cornerstone Boulevard N.E. for reports of shots being fired.

Upon arrival, officers located one man who was deceased.

Police continue to investigate the death. At this time, this shooting is believed to be targeted, however, nobody is in custody.

An autopsy will be conducted by The Office of The Chief Medical Examiner in the coming days.

At around 2 a.m. today, Friday Aug. 28, 2026, police responded to the 0-100 block of Cityline Common N.E. for reports of multiple vehicles on fire.

Upon arrival, police located five vehicles that had sustained extensive damage as a result of the fire. The Calgary Fire Department attended the scene and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.

Our Arson Unit was called to begin an investigation, as the fire was deemed suspicious. At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown.

After responding to reports of a commercial break and enter that occurred between 6 p.m., Monday, July 27 and 7 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2026, it was discovered that the two suspects gained entry into a fenced yard at Norcan Fluid Power Ltd., located at 5711 80 Ave. S.E., and stole approximately $100,000 worth of specialized and custom electrical equipment.

As part of an ongoing investigation into commercial break and enters, officers identified two suspects believed to be connected to several property-related offences, including this incident and others.

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, police executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Riverstone Close S.E., where a stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to its rightful owner as well as numerous items of suspected stolen property.

As a result of the investigation, investigators were able to return more than $30,000 worth of various stolen property to the affected businesses. 

Adam Thomas MACARTHUR, 38, has been charged with:

• Break and enter to commit theft under $5,000
• Break and enter to commit theft over $5,000
• Disguise with intent
• Break and enter and commit mischief to property over $5,000
• Possession of stolen property
• Driving an uninsured motor vehicle
• Possession of a stolen vehicle

MACARTHUR is scheduled to next appear in court on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026.

Douglas Graham WARRINGTON, 37, has been charged with:

• Break and enter to commit theft under $5,000
• Break and enter to commit theft over $5,000
• Possession of a stolen vehicle
• Driving while prohibited
• Driving an uninsured motor vehicle

WARRINGTON is scheduled to next appear in court today, Friday, Aug. 28, 2026.

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, just after midnight, a 31-year-old man parked in a lot in the 200 block of Lucas Blvd. N.W., and began walking his dog in the adjacent park.

Another man then approached him, threatening him with a knife, leading to a physical altercation between the two. Two more men arrived and the three of them pushed the victim into the trunk of his car, then drove the vehicle to the outskirts of the city.

The suspects released the man from the car’s trunk along Wagon Wheel Crescent, near Balzac, then drove off in the stolen car. 

The victim, who sustained minor injuries, was able to flag down a passing motorist who called the RCMP.

Later that day,  Calgary police officers were able to track the stolen car to the northeast community of Rundle.

They observed it being driven out of Calgary at a high rate of speed, and with the assistance of HAWCS and the RCMP,  followed it to Innisfail, where the driver pulled into a parking lot.

At that point, RCMP officers arrested the woman who’d been driving, as well as two male passengers.

There were also two children in the car at the time.

As a result of this investigation, Tiera SEDENTOPF, 25, of Calgary, is charged with:

·         One count, possession of stolen property over $5,000

·         One count, and dangerous driving.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026

Kyle FRASER, 31, of Calgary, is charged with:

·         One count, kidnapping

·         One count, robbery

·         One count, possession of a dangerous weapon

·         One count, possession of an assault weapon

·         Two counts,  breach of conditions.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday,  Sept. 16, 2026.

Danny SAWA SAWA, 21,of Calgary, is charged with:

·         One count, kidnapping

·         One count, robbery.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, Friday, Aug. 28, 2026.

“This was a dangerous situation, not only for the victim who was kidnapped but the children who where in the back of a speeding car,” said Staff Sgt. Keith Shufelt. “Thanks to the cooperation between the CPS, HAWCS, and the RCMP, we were able to arrest the suspects just a few hours after the kidnapping and assault happened.”

Police are seeking to identify a third suspect in the kidnapping.

On Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, at approximately 12:40 p.m., investigators with the Calgary Fire Department contacted the Calgary Police Service after discovering a body in a home in the 200 block of 27 Avenue N.E. where they had responded to a fire. 

Members of the CPS Homicide Unit and the Medical Examiner’s Office attended the scene and after further investigation, determined that the person’s death was suspicious. 

An autopsy completed by The Office of The Chief Medical Examiner is expected to take place tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 28, 2026. 

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released when available.

On Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, at around 1 a.m., officers were called to the Southland CTrain Station parking lot, located at 10158 Sacramento Dr. S.W., after witnesses reported a vulnerable woman in distress who appeared to have been sexually assaulted. The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition. Investigators believe the woman did not know the man prior to the attack.

The suspect is described as speaking with an accent and having dark brown hair. Witnesses reported seeing a mid-sized, black SUV with chrome trim around the windows flee the area.

Investigators have spent dozens of hours collecting and reviewing CCTV footage from the area and are now able to share photos of the vehicle that the suspect was believed to be driving.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at approximately 7:50 p.m., a motorcyclist was travelling east along McKnight Boulevard approaching Metis Trail N.E.

It is believed the driver lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown from it, landing in a median between the Metis Trail off-ramp and McKnight Boulevard N.E.

He sustained life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital.

This is Calgary’s 23^rd traffic fatality of the year.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this collision.  However, based on evidence collected from the scene, it appears the motorcyclist was travelling in excess of 200 km/h before losing control.

The Calgary Police Service is reminding people that speeding reduces reaction time and distance, increasing the risk and severity of collisions.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, our Homicide Unit was notified of a deceased woman found near the village of Cremona.

An autopsy completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the victim as 21-year-old Shakira BEARSPAW, of Calgary.

The investigation in the victim’s cause and manner of death remains ongoing.

On Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, police arrested one man in the 500 block of 40 Avenue N.W. 

Spencer STOLK, 37, has been charged with indignity to a human body. He will next appear in court today, Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026.

On Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at approximately 5 a.m., police were called to the 3900 block of Edmonton Trail N.E. following reports of suspicious activity involving a red SUV with a tow strap attached to an object inside a manhole. The witness reported that the vehicle was driven forward in an attempt to pull items from the manhole.

When officers arrived, they located three suspects, one man and two women, near the manhole. All three were taken into custody.

As a result, Calvin Joseph HAWRYLUK, 46, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of mischief causing damage over $5,000 and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

HAWRYLUK will next appear in court on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026.

Linda Lee SCOTT, 57, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of mischief causing damage over $5,000 and one count of breach of probation order.

SCOTT will next appear in court on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026.

Aurora Felicity BURR, 29, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of mischief causing damage over $5,000.

BURR will next appear in court on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026.

On Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, at approximately 5:50 a.m., police were called to the 4000 block of Edmonton Trail N.E. following reports of a suspicious vehicle parked beside a manhole and individuals repeatedly accessing the manhole over the previous several weeks.

Upon arrival, officers found one suspect sleeping inside the vehicle. Officers then opened the manhole cover and located a second suspect inside the manhole. Police seized multiple tools and supplies, as well as approximately 25 feet of cut telecommunications cable lying on the ground. Both suspects were taken into custody.

A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of 23.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 11.7 grams of suspected fentanyl, and additional electronic and hand tools.

As a result, Eric Carol DUBE, 50, of Calgary, is charged with:

·         One count of theft over $5,000

·         One count of mischief causing damage over $5,000

·         One count of possession of break-in instruments

·         Two counts of failure to comply with a release order

·         One count of taking a motor vehicle without the owner's consent

·         One count of driving a motor vehicle without holding an operator's licence

DUBE will next appear in court on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026.

Aurora Felicity BURR, 29, of Calgary, is also charged in connection with this incident. In addition to the charge laid in the Aug. 21 incident, BURR has been charged with:

·         One count of theft over $5,000

·         One count of mischief causing damage over $5,000

·         One count of possession of break-in instruments

·         Two counts of failure to comply with a release order

·         One count of possession of methamphetamine

·         One count of possession of fentanyl

In early August, investigators of the Auto Theft Team (ATT) became aware of a stolen Toyota Tundra that was believed to have been fraudulently re-vinned. Officers in ATT began investigating, working to locate the vehicle as well as the man believed to be in possession of the truck, who was wanted on eight outstanding criminal warrants.

On Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, the Tundra was located and a traffic stop was initiated in the Beltline community. The Tundra fled from police, however, officers located it unoccupied several blocks away.

Several minutes later, the suspect was observed hailing a cab from the scene. Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on the cab, at which time the suspect fled on foot. Following a brief foot chase, the man was subsequently taken into custody with the assistance of the Canine Unit.

Upon arrest, officers located a Mac11 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, a snub nose revolver and a suppressor. A search of the Tundra resulted in the seizure of a small amount of cocaine and methamphetamine, 15 handgun receivers, five additional suppressors, 13 high-capacity magazines and numerous fraudulent identification cards.

The handguns will undergo testing by our Firearms Investigative Team. At this time, it is believed that both were purchased in Texas and smuggled into Canada.

Jeremy SAUVE, 41, of Calgary is charged with:

• One count of flight from police
• One count of resisting arrest
• 17 counts of breaching a firearms prohibition
• Five counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or firearm
• Two counts of possession of a loaded firearm
• Two counts of possession of a firearm in a vehicle
• Two counts of carrying a concealed firearm
• Two counts of possession of a controlled substance
• Three counts of breach of a release order
• One count of possession of stolen property over $5,000

SAUVE was also wanted on eight outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest, including obstruction, failing to appear in court and escaping lawful custody.

SAUVE was remanded into custody and will next appear in court on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026.  

This investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are pending.

About the Auto Theft Team

The Calgary Police Service Auto Theft Team (ATT) is a dedicated resource within our Offender Management Unit that specifically targets offenders believed to be involved in auto thefts in Calgary. Through this enforcement work, the ATT uses intelligence, previous crime data, and offender histories to prioritize auto theft offenders causing the most harm.

As an offender management tool, the ATT works closely with other Offender Management Unit resources, including the Prolific Offender Engagement Team (POET), to share information and monitor high-risk offenders with court-imposed conditions.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at approximately 1:20 a.m., police were called to a home in the 200 block of Legacy Circle S.E., to check on the welfare of a woman inside.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., the woman exited the home with a weapon. The situation then escalated and one officer fired their Service weapon, striking the woman.  She was declared deceased at the scene.

During the incident a gas meter ruptured, causing a gas leak in the community. Officers assisted in evacuating homes affected by the leak, escorting community members out of the area until the Calgary Fire Department could secure the scene. The cause of the gas leak has not been determined. Affected residents were able to return to their homes a short time later. 

One officer was transported to hospital for precautionary measures, and another was evaluated by medics. We are thankful to report they are recovering.  

As is protocol with any officer-involved shooting, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has taken over this investigation, and no further information will be available.

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, at approximately 12:25 p.m., Calgary Police Service (CPS) officers on patrol observed heavy smoke coming from a residential area near 17 Avenue and 42 Street S.E. After locating the fire in a detached garage in the 1800 block of 42 Street S.E., officers secured the scene and evacuated nearby residents.

Investigators believe the suspect approached the detached garage, lit a piece of paper on fire and placed it under the garage door, causing approximately $50,000 in damages.

The suspect is described as a woman between 16 and 24 years old, approximately 5'4" tall, with a slim build. At the time of the incident, she was wearing an all-black tracksuit, a black baseball cap and white shoes, and was carrying a black-and-pink backpack. The suspect is believed to frequent the Forest Lawn community.

As the suspect may be a youth, the Youth Criminal Justice Act prohibits the release of identifying images.

On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at approximately 2:15 p.m., a 58-year-old man was riding a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on 130 Avenue S.E., approaching 46 Street S.E.

The motorcycle struck the concrete median and the rider was thrown from the bike, sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Just over an hour later, at 3:30 p.m., a 25-year-old man was driving a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am south on Deerfoot Trail, about to exit on to Glenmore Trail.

While still in the far right lane, the Grand Am rear-ended a 2011 Suzuki SV650 motorcycle, operated by a 30-year-old man.  The motorcycle then hit the back of a 2011 Dodge Durango, driven by a 62-year-old woman, with four passengers inside.

As a result of that collision, the truck was pushed into a 2004 Toyota Camry, driven by a 17-year-old male, with one passenger inside.

After colliding with the motorcycle, the Grand Am also struck a 2008 Toyota RAV4 being driven by a 29-year-old woman.

The operator of the motorcycle was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the driver of the Grand Am was taken with minor injuries.

Neither speed, nor alcohol or drugs were believed to be factors in either collision.

This weekend’s incidents are a reminder that operators of any vehicle, whether a car, truck, or motorcycle, need to constantly be aware of their surroundings, including barriers and other vehicles that at times, may be difficult to see.

Investigations into both collisions continue.
