At approximately 4:20 p.m. yesterday, Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, we responded to reports of a single-vehicle motorcycle collision on Symons Valley Parkway N.W., near the intersection of Evanston View N.W.

It is believed a motorcycle, operated by a 19-year-old man, was approaching the intersection of Evanston View N.W. when it struck a curb and lost control resulting in the motorcycle striking a fire hydrant before coming to a rest.

As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was declared deceased at the scene.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision; however, excessive speed is being investigated as a factor.

Police are seeking information from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage related to the incident. They are also looking to locate a black helmet believed to have been worn by the motorcyclist at the time of the collision.

At approximately 9:40 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, a passenger was exiting a Calgary Transit bus at the stop located at Beddington Boulevard N.W. and Centre Street N., when she fell and was struck by the bus as it left the stop.

The pedestrian, an 80-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital with serious, life-altering injuries. The driver of the bus was not injured and remained at the scene.

Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the collision and at this time, the investigation is still ongoing.

Investigators believe the same three suspects were involved in incidents at Luxe Du Jour, located at #1010, 605 Fifth Ave. S.W., on Sunday, June 14, 2026, and Saturday, July 25, 2026.

At approximately 1:25 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, it is believed that three suspects entered the building through an emergency exit door and forced entry through secured areas of the building before breaking into the store.

Once inside, they stole a variety of designer handbags, wallets, belts and accessories valued at approximately $144,470, including items from Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Hermès, Saint Laurent, Gucci and Prada.

At approximately 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, it is believed the suspects returned and again forced entry into the store, stealing about 17 handbags.

During both incidents, CCTV footage captured the suspects arriving and leaving in vehicles that were later determined to be stolen. Both vehicles have since been recovered; however, the suspects remain unidentified.

The suspects were dressed in dark clothing and wore hats, hoods, masks and gloves.

Due to similarities in the two break-ins, including the suspects’ appearance and behaviour, investigators believe the incidents are connected and are asking anyone with information to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.

On Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, shortly after 9 a.m., a 79-year-old man was driving a 2016 GMC Canyon west along the 7200 block of Bowness Road N.W., when his vehicle crossed the centre line, colliding head-on with a City of Calgary transit bus. 

The driver and occupants of the transit bus were not hurt, however the driver of the GMC Canyon was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition. 

Sadly, on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, he succumbed to his injuries. 

Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors in this collision.

On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at approximately 1:50 p.m., the man was driving a 2015 BMW south on Crowchild Trail, N.W., when he suddenly slowed near 32 Avenue N.W. 

As a result, a 2024 Toyota Tacoma, also travelling south in the same lane, driven by a 57-year-old man, rear-ended the BMW.  The BMW’s driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital. He died in hospital on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026. 

The driver of the Toyota, along with his two nine-year-old passengers, sustained minor injuries. 

Speed, alcohol, and drugs do not appear to be factors in this collision. However, the medical fitness of the BMW driver is being investigated.

On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at approximately 11:20 p.m., a woman called police after she noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in the 800 block of Stonehaven Road S.W. The woman then saw what appeared to be two unknown individuals underneath her vehicle, who then retreated to a truck and left the area.

Police spotted the truck approximately five minutes later and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Southampton Drive S.W., north of Elbow Drive S.W. The suspect failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.

HAWCS was engaged to safely observe the vehicle, which was driving recklessly and operating at dangerous speeds though neighbourhoods, and on major roadways while passing vehicles on the shoulder.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., an unknown woman exited the vehicle and was unable to be located.

Shortly after, officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device as the vehicle travelled northbound on Elbow Drive S.W.

At midnight, the suspect abandoned the vehicle, which was determined to be stolen, and entered a residence in the 11100 block of Sacramento Drive S.W. The suspect was arrested at approximately 12:20 a.m.

“With the help of HAWCS, patrol members, and our Canine and Tactical Support Units, we were able to safely apprehend the suspect who endangered the lives of Calgarians with their blatant disregard for public safety as they sped through residential areas, intersections and busy roads,” says Insp. Scott Neilson of the Calgary Police Service. “This is a great example of teamwork and coordination of multiple resources across the Service to protect the community and hold people accountable for their actions.”

Police conducted a search of the stolen vehicle and seized the following items:

• Two stolen Alberta licence plates
• A stolen 2021 Haro bicycle valued at $729
• A bag of break and enter tools including a crowbar, screw drivers and wrenches
• Stolen vehicle insurance and registration documents

As a result, Travis Lee CRAMER, 31, is charged with:

• One count of flight from police
• One count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
• One count of operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited
• Six counts of possession of stolen property
• One count of possession of break and enter tools

CRAMER is also facing two charges under the Traffic Safety Act for driving without insurance and unauthorized use of plates. 

He is scheduled to next appear in court on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026.

We encourage children of all ages to:

Parents dropping children off at school can help keep everyone safe by:

New youth safety initiatives

This school year, the CPS is expanding its youth safety education efforts with the launch of Simon Says, a new safety-awareness campaign for children in kindergarten through Grade 5. The initiative provides age-appropriate safety messages through schools, newsletters and school outreach, helping younger children build positive safety habits early in life.

The CPS has also expanded its digital outreach to older youth through its growing social media presence, including TikTok. The platform will be used to share safety information and engage youth on topics such as online safety, digital citizenship and making informed decisions both online and in the community. The initiative aligns with the Service's youth-focused education and awareness efforts aimed at students in Grades 6 to 12.

By combining in-person education, community engagement and digital outreach, the CPS continues to support youth safety and help young people develop the knowledge and skills they need to navigate today's increasingly connected world.

On Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, at approximately 12:55 a.m., we were called to the 1100 block of Cornerstone Boulevard N.E. for reports of shots being fired.

Upon arrival, officers located one man who was deceased.

Police continue to investigate the death. At this time, this shooting is believed to be targeted, however, nobody is in custody.

An autopsy will be conducted by The Office of The Chief Medical Examiner in the coming days.

At around 2 a.m. today, Friday Aug. 28, 2026, police responded to the 0-100 block of Cityline Common N.E. for reports of multiple vehicles on fire.

Upon arrival, police located five vehicles that had sustained extensive damage as a result of the fire. The Calgary Fire Department attended the scene and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.

Our Arson Unit was called to begin an investigation, as the fire was deemed suspicious. At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown.

After responding to reports of a commercial break and enter that occurred between 6 p.m., Monday, July 27 and 7 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2026, it was discovered that the two suspects gained entry into a fenced yard at Norcan Fluid Power Ltd., located at 5711 80 Ave. S.E., and stole approximately $100,000 worth of specialized and custom electrical equipment.

As part of an ongoing investigation into commercial break and enters, officers identified two suspects believed to be connected to several property-related offences, including this incident and others.

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, police executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Riverstone Close S.E., where a stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to its rightful owner as well as numerous items of suspected stolen property.

As a result of the investigation, investigators were able to return more than $30,000 worth of various stolen property to the affected businesses. 

Adam Thomas MACARTHUR, 38, has been charged with:

• Break and enter to commit theft under $5,000
• Break and enter to commit theft over $5,000
• Disguise with intent
• Break and enter and commit mischief to property over $5,000
• Possession of stolen property
• Driving an uninsured motor vehicle
• Possession of a stolen vehicle

MACARTHUR is scheduled to next appear in court on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026.

Douglas Graham WARRINGTON, 37, has been charged with:

• Break and enter to commit theft under $5,000
• Break and enter to commit theft over $5,000
• Possession of a stolen vehicle
• Driving while prohibited
• Driving an uninsured motor vehicle

WARRINGTON is scheduled to next appear in court today, Friday, Aug. 28, 2026.

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, just after midnight, a 31-year-old man parked in a lot in the 200 block of Lucas Blvd. N.W., and began walking his dog in the adjacent park.

Another man then approached him, threatening him with a knife, leading to a physical altercation between the two. Two more men arrived and the three of them pushed the victim into the trunk of his car, then drove the vehicle to the outskirts of the city.

The suspects released the man from the car’s trunk along Wagon Wheel Crescent, near Balzac, then drove off in the stolen car. 

The victim, who sustained minor injuries, was able to flag down a passing motorist who called the RCMP.

Later that day,  Calgary police officers were able to track the stolen car to the northeast community of Rundle.

They observed it being driven out of Calgary at a high rate of speed, and with the assistance of HAWCS and the RCMP,  followed it to Innisfail, where the driver pulled into a parking lot.

At that point, RCMP officers arrested the woman who’d been driving, as well as two male passengers.

There were also two children in the car at the time.

As a result of this investigation, Tiera SEDENTOPF, 25, of Calgary, is charged with:

·         One count, possession of stolen property over $5,000

·         One count, and dangerous driving.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026

Kyle FRASER, 31, of Calgary, is charged with:

·         One count, kidnapping

·         One count, robbery

·         One count, possession of a dangerous weapon

·         One count, possession of an assault weapon

·         Two counts,  breach of conditions.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday,  Sept. 16, 2026.

Danny SAWA SAWA, 21,of Calgary, is charged with:

·         One count, kidnapping

·         One count, robbery.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, Friday, Aug. 28, 2026.

“This was a dangerous situation, not only for the victim who was kidnapped but the children who where in the back of a speeding car,” said Staff Sgt. Keith Shufelt. “Thanks to the cooperation between the CPS, HAWCS, and the RCMP, we were able to arrest the suspects just a few hours after the kidnapping and assault happened.”

Police are seeking to identify a third suspect in the kidnapping.

Members of the CPS Homicide Unit and the Medical Examiner’s Office attended the scene and after further investigation, determined that the person’s death was suspicious.

On Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, at around 1 a.m., officers were called to the Southland CTrain Station parking lot, located at 10158 Sacramento Dr. S.W., after witnesses reported a vulnerable woman in distress who appeared to have been sexually assaulted. The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition. Investigators believe the woman did not know the man prior to the attack.

The suspect is described as speaking with an accent and having dark brown hair. Witnesses reported seeing a mid-sized, black SUV with chrome trim around the windows flee the area.

Investigators have spent dozens of hours collecting and reviewing CCTV footage from the area and are now able to share photos of the vehicle that the suspect was believed to be driving.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at approximately 7:50 p.m., a motorcyclist was travelling east along McKnight Boulevard approaching Metis Trail N.E.

It is believed the driver lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown from it, landing in a median between the Metis Trail off-ramp and McKnight Boulevard N.E.

He sustained life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital.

This is Calgary’s 23^rd traffic fatality of the year.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this collision.  However, based on evidence collected from the scene, it appears the motorcyclist was travelling in excess of 200 km/h before losing control.

The Calgary Police Service is reminding people that speeding reduces reaction time and distance, increasing the risk and severity of collisions.

An autopsy completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the victim as 21-year-old Shakira BEARSPAW, of Calgary.

On Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, police arrested one man in the 500 block of 40 Avenue N.W. 

Spencer STOLK, 37, has been charged with indignity to a human body. He will next appear in court today, Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026.

On Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at approximately 5 a.m., police were called to the 3900 block of Edmonton Trail N.E. following reports of suspicious activity involving a red SUV with a tow strap attached to an object inside a manhole. The witness reported that the vehicle was driven forward in an attempt to pull items from the manhole.

When officers arrived, they located three suspects, one man and two women, near the manhole. All three were taken into custody.

As a result, Calvin Joseph HAWRYLUK, 46, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of mischief causing damage over $5,000 and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

HAWRYLUK will next appear in court on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026.

Linda Lee SCOTT, 57, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of mischief causing damage over $5,000 and one count of breach of probation order.

SCOTT will next appear in court on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026.

Aurora Felicity BURR, 29, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of mischief causing damage over $5,000.

BURR will next appear in court on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026.

On Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, at approximately 5:50 a.m., police were called to the 4000 block of Edmonton Trail N.E. following reports of a suspicious vehicle parked beside a manhole and individuals repeatedly accessing the manhole over the previous several weeks.

Upon arrival, officers found one suspect sleeping inside the vehicle. Officers then opened the manhole cover and located a second suspect inside the manhole. Police seized multiple tools and supplies, as well as approximately 25 feet of cut telecommunications cable lying on the ground. Both suspects were taken into custody.

A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of 23.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 11.7 grams of suspected fentanyl, and additional electronic and hand tools.

As a result, Eric Carol DUBE, 50, of Calgary, is charged with:

·         One count of theft over $5,000

·         One count of mischief causing damage over $5,000

·         One count of possession of break-in instruments

·         Two counts of failure to comply with a release order

·         One count of taking a motor vehicle without the owner's consent

·         One count of driving a motor vehicle without holding an operator's licence

Aurora Felicity BURR, 29, of Calgary, is also charged in connection with this incident. In addition to the charge laid in the Aug. 21 incident, BURR has been charged with:

·         Two counts of failure to comply with a release order

·         One count of possession of methamphetamine

In early August, investigators of the Auto Theft Team (ATT) became aware of a stolen Toyota Tundra that was believed to have been fraudulently re-vinned. Officers in ATT began investigating, working to locate the vehicle as well as the man believed to be in possession of the truck, who was wanted on eight outstanding criminal warrants.

On Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, the Tundra was located and a traffic stop was initiated in the Beltline community. The Tundra fled from police, however, officers located it unoccupied several blocks away.

Several minutes later, the suspect was observed hailing a cab from the scene. Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on the cab, at which time the suspect fled on foot. Following a brief foot chase, the man was subsequently taken into custody with the assistance of the Canine Unit.

Upon arrest, officers located a Mac11 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, a snub nose revolver and a suppressor. A search of the Tundra resulted in the seizure of a small amount of cocaine and methamphetamine, 15 handgun receivers, five additional suppressors, 13 high-capacity magazines and numerous fraudulent identification cards.

The handguns will undergo testing by our Firearms Investigative Team. At this time, it is believed that both were purchased in Texas and smuggled into Canada.

Jeremy SAUVE, 41, of Calgary is charged with:

• One count of flight from police
• One count of resisting arrest
• 17 counts of breaching a firearms prohibition
• Five counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or firearm
• Two counts of possession of a loaded firearm
• Two counts of possession of a firearm in a vehicle
• Two counts of carrying a concealed firearm
• Two counts of possession of a controlled substance
• Three counts of breach of a release order
• One count of possession of stolen property over $5,000

SAUVE was also wanted on eight outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest, including obstruction, failing to appear in court and escaping lawful custody.

SAUVE was remanded into custody and will next appear in court on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026.  

This investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are pending.

About the Auto Theft Team

The Calgary Police Service Auto Theft Team (ATT) is a dedicated resource within our Offender Management Unit that specifically targets offenders believed to be involved in auto thefts in Calgary. Through this enforcement work, the ATT uses intelligence, previous crime data, and offender histories to prioritize auto theft offenders causing the most harm.

As an offender management tool, the ATT works closely with other Offender Management Unit resources, including the Prolific Offender Engagement Team (POET), to share information and monitor high-risk offenders with court-imposed conditions.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at approximately 1:20 a.m., police were called to a home in the 200 block of Legacy Circle S.E., to check on the welfare of a woman inside.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., the woman exited the home with a weapon. The situation then escalated and one officer fired their Service weapon, striking the woman.  She was declared deceased at the scene.

During the incident a gas meter ruptured, causing a gas leak in the community. Officers assisted in evacuating homes affected by the leak, escorting community members out of the area until the Calgary Fire Department could secure the scene. The cause of the gas leak has not been determined. Affected residents were able to return to their homes a short time later. 

One officer was transported to hospital for precautionary measures, and another was evaluated by medics. We are thankful to report they are recovering.  

As is protocol with any officer-involved shooting, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has taken over this investigation, and no further information will be available.

On Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, at around 1 a.m., officers were called to the Southland CTrain Station parking lot, located at 10158 Sacramento Dr. S.W., after witnesses reported a vulnerable woman in distress who appeared to have been sexually assaulted. The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition. Investigators believe the woman did not know the man prior to the attack.

The suspect is described as speaking with an accent and having dark brown hair. Witnesses reported seeing a mid-sized, black SUV with chrome trim around the windows flee the area.

As a result of this incident, the CPS will be conducting high-profile patrols in this area over the coming days. The victim of this incident has been offered various supports from the Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team (CSART) and the Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA).

As the investigation is in its early stages, no further information is available at this time. More information will be shared when additional details are confirmed.

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, at approximately 12:25 p.m., Calgary Police Service (CPS) officers on patrol observed heavy smoke coming from a residential area near 17 Avenue and 42 Street S.E. After locating the fire in a detached garage in the 1800 block of 42 Street S.E., officers secured the scene and evacuated nearby residents.

Investigators believe the suspect approached the detached garage, lit a piece of paper on fire and placed it under the garage door, causing approximately $50,000 in damages.

The suspect is described as a woman between 16 and 24 years old, approximately 5'4" tall, with a slim build. At the time of the incident, she was wearing an all-black tracksuit, a black baseball cap and white shoes, and was carrying a black-and-pink backpack. The suspect is believed to frequent the Forest Lawn community.

As the suspect may be a youth, the Youth Criminal Justice Act prohibits the release of identifying images.

On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at approximately 2:15 p.m., a 58-year-old man was riding a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on 130 Avenue S.E., approaching 46 Street S.E.

The motorcycle struck the concrete median and the rider was thrown from the bike, sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Just over an hour later, at 3:30 p.m., a 25-year-old man was driving a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am south on Deerfoot Trail, about to exit on to Glenmore Trail.

While still in the far right lane, the Grand Am rear-ended a 2011 Suzuki SV650 motorcycle, operated by a 30-year-old man.  The motorcycle then hit the back of a 2011 Dodge Durango, driven by a 62-year-old woman, with four passengers inside.

As a result of that collision, the truck was pushed into a 2004 Toyota Camry, driven by a 17-year-old male, with one passenger inside.

After colliding with the motorcycle, the Grand Am also struck a 2008 Toyota RAV4 being driven by a 29-year-old woman.

The operator of the motorcycle was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the driver of the Grand Am was taken with minor injuries.

Neither speed, nor alcohol or drugs were believed to be factors in either collision.

This weekend’s incidents are a reminder that operators of any vehicle, whether a car, truck, or motorcycle, need to constantly be aware of their surroundings, including barriers and other vehicles that at times, may be difficult to see.

Investigations into both collisions continue.

On Friday, April 24, 2026, police were contacted after reports of an unknown woman was suspected of making a series of fraudulent purchases at multiple Costco stores in Calgary and the surrounding area.

Police began investigating and determined that between Thursday, April 9 and Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the woman had repeatedly used fraudulent or altered UPC codes assigned to lower cost items to obtain high-value electronics including desktop computers, TVs, gaming consoles and sound equipment.

It is believed an unknown man also participated in making fraudulent transactions with the woman.

On Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, police executed a search warrant in the 0 to 100 block of Cornerbrook Manor N.E., and both suspects were arrested and the following items were seized:

• 302.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine with a street value of $6,048
• Digital scales and packaging materials consistent with drug trafficking
• Multiple instruments used for forgery and fraud, including:
  • Credit card manufacturing equipment
  • Credit card scanners
  • Card skimming devices
  • Credit cards that appeared to have been altered
  • 31 credit cards
• A stolen 65-inch Samsung television
• Two receipt printing machines
• Various other items believed to be stolen and false identification documents

As a result, Kristie Marie CONSTANTINOFF, 41, is facing 70 charges, and Aaron Lee HEAD, 39, is facing 119 charges.

They are each charged with 12 counts of possession of identity documents, 31 counts of possession of stolen credit cards, nine counts of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking, one count of possession of instruments for copying credit card data or forging and falsifying credit cards and one count of possession of stolen property.

CONSTANTINOFF is scheduled to next appear in court on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026.

HEAD is scheduled to next appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026.

On Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, the victim began communicating with a man through Facebook Marketplace about building a sauna at his residence. The man provided several quotes before the two agreed on a price of $2,730, to be paid by e-transfer.

On Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, the victim paid a 50 per cent deposit. Over the following weeks, the man attended the residence and took measurements for the project. On Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, the man advised the victim he could no longer deliver the product and said he would issue a full refund. The refund was never received, and the victim was unable to contact the man. The incident was subsequently reported to police.

In a similar incident, on Thursday, May 29, 2025, a victim contacted the same man through a Facebook advertisement for construction services. The victim was seeking to have a sitting area built at his residence. After attending the property and assessing the work, the man provided a quote of $6,500 plus tax. The parties agreed that half of the cost would be paid as a deposit by e-transfer.

The victim paid a deposit of $3,412.50. Although the man later delivered materials to the residence, he repeatedly provided excuses for not beginning the work. When the victim requested a full refund, the man refused and became aggressive in text messages. The incident was then reported to police.

Investigators identified the suspect as Mitchel LANDRY, 35, who is also known to use the alias Mitch Ryan online. Through the investigation, officers determined LANDRY was linked to both incidents. He is also known to operate under the company names Silverado Lawn and Snow and The Deck Experts. Investigators further determined neither business was registered in Alberta.

LANDRY is wanted on warrants for:

• Fraud under $5,000
• Money laundering

Numerous attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful, and we are seeking information from the public regarding his whereabouts. Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.

LANDRY is described as 6' tall and approximately 185 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is believed to be driving a 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck bearing Alberta licence plate CWH4036.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug.18, 2026, police responded to reports of three people performing stunts and operating electric dirt bikes dangerously in the southwest community of Coach Hill.

Officers attempted to stop the three riders, however they fled from police.

HAWCS assisted in tracking the three bikes as the riders continued to evade police, dangerously driving through residential neighbourhoods.

Two of the riders were ultimately arrested.

Both are now facing charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle and flight from police, under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Calgarians should be aware that electric dirt bikes cannot legally be operated on public roads, sidewalks, pathways or parks and that operating any vehicle in a careless or dangerous manner has consequences.

On Aug. 5 and 6, 2026, we partnered with the Alberta Sheriffs’ Fugitive Apprehension Sheriffs Support Team (FASST) to locate individuals wanted on outstanding criminal and non-criminal warrants in downtown Calgary and the surrounding area.

Of the warrants executed:

• 77 were criminal warrants, 25 of which were related to violent offences
• 14 were non-criminal warrants

Many of the warrants executed were related to assault of a peace officer, resisting arrest, possession of a dangerous weapon, assault with a weapon, hazardous storage of a firearm, breach of probation, failure to attend court or failure to comply with release orders.

“This operation demonstrates the value of proactive enforcement and strong partnerships,” says Sgt. Chelsea Karpenko with the Calgary Police Service (CPS). “This work does not stop here. Investigators from the CPS and Alberta Sheriffs continue to actively pursue additional wanted individuals using intelligence gathered throughout this operation. Holding offenders accountable and ensuring they answer to outstanding warrants remains an important part of maintaining safe communities.”

“Operations like this demonstrate the strength of law enforcement partnerships in Alberta,” says Insp. Darren Thompson with the Alberta Sheriffs FASST. “By working closely with the Calgary Police Service and other enforcement partners, we can combine intelligence and resources to locate wanted individuals, hold offenders accountable and enhance public safety.”

This operation complements the CPS’ broader Safer Calgary initiative, which brings together police, enforcement and community partners including Calgary Community Standards, Calgary Transit Public Safety and the Alberta Sheriffs, to enhance public safety in priority areas through strategic patrols, targeted enforcement, outreach and referrals to support services.

Around 7:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, as part of District 8’s Crime Reduction Strategy, members of patrol were conducting a proactive deployment at the Somerset-Bridlewood CTrain station when they were approached by a man suffering injuries to his face.

The victim reported that an unknown man had aggressively confronted a woman on the CTrain platform while shouting racial slurs at her before striking her in the face. When the victim stepped in to intervene, he was then also assaulted before the suspect fled eastbound on the platform.

Officers pursued the suspect on foot while additional units quickly established containment. With assistance from Calgary Transit Public Safety, the suspect was prevented from re-entering the CTrain system and was located nearby a short time later.

The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault.

At this time investigators have not been able to speak to the woman who was also assaulted and ask her or anyone else who may have witnessed the assaults to contact police.

As a result of his arrest, Steepan SURANE, 38, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of assault and one count of obstruction to a peace officer. SURANE was also arrested on 11 outstanding warrants.

He will next appear in court on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026.

Hate-motivation is being investigated as a potential factor in the assault.

"This incident is deeply concerning and has no place in our community, everyone deserves to feel safe using public transit and going about their daily lives without fear of violence or hate,” says District 8 Insp. Darry Midtdal. “We remain committed to holding those responsible accountable and encouraging anyone who witnesses or experiences similar behaviour to report it to police."

Since mid-April, District 8 Community Resource Officers (CROs) have been conducting targeted enforcement at the Somerset-Bridlewood, Shawnessy and Fish Creek-Lacombe CTrain stations in response to ongoing crime, disorder and public safety concerns.

The CROs are leading the enforcement and community engagement initiative as part of the district’s comprehensive Crime Reduction Strategy. With support from the Community Engagement Response Team and patrol members, officers carried out enforcement and outreach activities, including weekday morning deployments on platforms and trains during peak commuter periods.

We are asking for the public’s help to locate a man wanted in connection with an incident that left three people injured in downtown Calgary.

At about 11:40 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, we responded to reports of a disturbance at Spanky’s Saloon, located at 219 10th Ave. S.W. Upon arrival, we located three injured men, one of whom appeared to have a stab wound. All three were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe all three victims were assaulted by the same individual. The suspect was not previously known to any of the victims.

Through the investigation, the suspect has been identified as Devontae TRAVERSE, 22. He is currently wanted on a warrant for multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated assault and two counts of breaches of a court order.

Investigative avenues to locate him have been exhausted and we are now asking for the public’s help.

At approximately 8 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by a man in his 20s, was travelling southbound on Tsuut’ina Trail S.W., approaching 90th Avenue S.W., when the vehicle left the roadway and struck the concrete base of a sign pole.

First responders extricated the driver from the vehicle and transported him to hospital, where he later died. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.

So far in 2026, there have been 18 fatal collisions, resulting in 22 fatalities.

On Monday, July 21, 2025, a man was driving a pick-up truck south in the northbound lanes of 52 Street N.E., when he struck a female pedestrian in her 50s.  The pedestrian died at the scene.

The truck continued travelling south, colliding with an oncoming SUV, before coming to a stop and bursting into flames. 

The driver of that SUV, a 33-year-old woman, and the passenger, a 35-year-old man, were both taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

On Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, following a lengthy investigation by the CPS Traffic Section, Rami HAMDAN, 26, of Calgary was arrested and charged with one count of criminal dangerous driving causing death and two counts of criminal dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

HAMDAN is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026.

At approximately 11:43 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, we received reports that two masked men entered Austin’s Bar and Grill, located at 11625 Elbow Drive S.W. It is believed the men had a firearm and ordered staff and patrons to the ground before stealing cash from the business.

The suspects fled the area in what witnesses describe as a dark SUV.

In September 2025, police became aware of a man believed to be involved in drug trafficking in Calgary. The CPS Organized Crime Enforcement Team began investigating and quickly identified a network of individuals who were believed to be engaged in drug trafficking, firearms offences, vehicle re-vinning and prescription fraud.

Throughout the course of the investigation, officers wrote 74 judicial authorizations, executed 15 search warrants and seized dozens of exhibits, including digital devices and physical evidence. Due to the scope of the investigation, searches and arrests were co-ordinated in a multi-phased approach.

Prescription fraud investigation leads to charges

On Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, investigators executed search warrants at a residence located in the 253200 block of 84 Street, in Delacour, Alta., a residence located in the 100 block of Clearwater Terrace, in Chestermere, Alta., and a Jeep associated with the suspects. During these searches, we seized:

• $7,690 in cash and a cash counter
• Several forged prescription documents
• Prescription medication believed to be obtained with forged prescriptions
• A radio-frequency jammer

In March 2026, a man and woman were arrested.

Ausama MOHAMED, 28, of Chestermere, is charged with two counts each of possession of the proceeds of crime and possession of forged documents. He has since been released and will appear in court on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026.

Bonnie LEBLANC, 40, of Delacour, is charged with seven counts of uttering a forged document and six counts of possession of the proceeds of crime. She has since been released and will appear in court on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026.

Drug-trafficking investigation leads to firearm and drug seizures

On Monday, March 9, 2026, investigators executed search warrants at a residence located in the 100 block of Cityside Grove N.E., an apartment located in the 200 block of 13 Avenue S.W., and three vehicles. During these searches, we seized:

• A loaded Girsan MC14 BDA handgun
• 137 rounds of ammunition
• $15,410 in cash
• 160.2 grams of methamphetamine
• 115.1 grams of cocaine
• 23 OxyContin pills
• Other items consistent with drug trafficking, including packaging materials, buffing agent and cell phones

Of note, officers located 107 individually wrapped baggies of methamphetamine and cocaine that had been concealed in the door panelling of the vehicles searched.

Two men have since been charged.

Mohammed SALIMI, 22, and Omed SALIMI, 25, both of Calgary, are each charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000. Both men were released from custody. Mohammed SALIMI will appear in court on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, and Omed SALIMI, will appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026.

Traffic stop leads to further drug-trafficking charges

On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, members of our Gang Suppression Team also conducted a traffic stop on an individual also believed to be involved in drug trafficking. The vehicle was seized for examination, and the suspect was arrested on an outstanding warrant. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed the following items that had been concealed behind a panel between the vehicle’s gear shift and infotainment centre:

• A loaded Smith & Wesson SD9 VE handgun
• A baggie of ammunition
• 128.8 grams of powder and crack cocaine, packaged into 63 individual baggies
• Brass knuckles

Investigators issued warrants for the arrest of the suspect, who had been released the previous day, and on Monday, July 13, 2026, he was arrested after fleeing from a traffic stop in the community of Thorncliffe. Upon his arrest, officers located the following items:

Jayson McCORMACK, 21, of Calgary, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of resisting arrest, carrying a concealed firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm with ammunition, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of the proceeds of crime. McCORMACK was released from custody and will appear in court on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026.

Additional arrests made in firearms and drug-trafficking investigation

On Thursday, March 26, 2026, with the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team, a property in the 245000 block of Range Road 283 in Rocky View County, Alta., was searched. One man was arrested at the residence. On the same day, investigators in Calgary searched an apartment located in the 1800 block of 26 Avenue S.W., and arrested two men as they attended a scheduled probation appointment. Two vehicles were also searched.

During these searches, we seized:

• 13 rifles, including four that were hidden in a concealed room
• Two loaded handguns, including a 9 mm Taurus and a 9 mm Hellcat
• A loaded Churchill shotgun
• More than 760 rounds of assorted ammunition
• Body armour
• 81.8 grams of powder and crack cocaine, in individually wrapped baggies
• 64.8 grams of MDMA
• $9,630 in cash
• A stolen Dodge Challenger
• A stolen Dodge Ram that had been re-vinned
• Scales, drug packaging materials and multiple cell phones
• A baseball bat, crowbars and a mask, found in a vehicle

On Thursday, July 16, 2026, two men were arrested and charged. Warrants were issued for a third man on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Ahed ALWAN, 30, of Calgary, is charged with one count each of breach of a firearms prohibition, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, possession of a firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of the proceeds of crime. ALWAN was held in custody and will appear in court on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026.

Asrar MANSOURI, 29, of Calgary, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of carrying a concealed firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm with ammunition, possession of the proceeds of crime and possession of a controlled substance. MANSOURI was released from custody and will appear in court on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026.

Christopher HAYWARD, 45, of Calgary, is charged with four counts of breaching a firearms prohibition, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, impersonation to gain advantage and possession of the proceeds of crime.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., today, Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, members were conducting a traffic stop when an occupant of the vehicle fired shots, striking one of our officers.

Following the shooting, a man fled the vehicle on foot into Edworthy Park and toward the Bow River. During this time, it is believed the suspect continued to actively shoot at pursuing members and nearby civilians. It is believed he then carjacked an individual, driving through the park until the vehicle became stuck, at which point he exited the vehicle and resumed on foot.

Throughout the incident, HAWCS was utilized to locate the suspect and report the movements of the suspect to direct our officers on the ground.

Prior to officers on the ground reaching the suspect, he was located deceased in the river. The Calgary Fire Department is assisting with the recovery of the suspect.

We are relieved to report the injured officer was taken to hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Officers are currently searching Edworthy Park for any additional evidence. This was a dynamic incident and new information is still coming forward. Any witnesses are asked to make contact with officers on scene or call our non-emergency line. 

As is standard practice with any officer-involved shooting, ASIRT has been called to investigate. No further details are available at this time.

On Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, at approximately 2:35 a.m., it is believed two suspects broke the windows of a childcare centre located in the 0-100 block of Saddlepeace Manor N.E.

As part of the ongoing investigation, officers reviewed CCTV footage and are now seeking the public’s assistance to identify a vehicle and two suspects believed to be involved.  

At the time of the incident, the suspects were seen wearing black hoodies, black pants and face masks.

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a 75-year-old woman was walking from her vehicle to her apartment, located in the 6200 block of 17 Avenue S.E., when she was approached by two unknown males who attempted to steal her purse. The victim fought back and screamed for help, attracting the attention of a neighbour who intervened. The males fled the area before police arrived. The victim was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Investigators collected CCTV from the area and through a review of the footage, witness interviews and a comparison of evidence from a previous robbery, two youth suspects were identified.

A 14-year-old male and a 16-year-old male have each been charged with one count of robbery. The teens cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

“This was an unprovoked and opportunistic robbery that targeted a Calgarian going about their day. This incident will have a lasting impact on the victim, beyond her physical injuries,” says Staff Sgt. Keith Shufelt of the CPS District 4 General Investigations Unit. “The random nature of this offence and the ages of those charged are particularly concerning.”

At approximately 11 p.m., yesterday, Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, we responded to reports of a collision on the northbound lanes of Stoney Trail S.W. near the exit to Tsuut’ina Parkway.

At that time, it is believed a 2011 Mercedes Benz C350 being operated by a 30-year-old man was travelling southbound in the northbound lanes of Stoney Trail. The Mercedes Benz struck an oncoming 2016 Subaru Impreza being operated by a 43-year-old man. Following the impact, both vehicles caught fire. A Chevrolet Equinox operated by a 52-year-old woman then struck the Mercedes Benz. As a result of the collision, the occupants of the Mercedes, the driver and passengers, a woman and a child, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Subaru, the sole occupant, was also pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and three youth passengers of the Chevrolet were transported to hospital, one suffering from life-altering, non-life-threatening injuries.

Our Traffic Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Impairment and excessive speed on behalf of the driver of the Mercedes Benz are being investigated as factors in the collision.

At approximately 8 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, officers were called to the Victoria Park/Stampede LRT station for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, two victims were located suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

It is believed an altercation occurred on the CTrain between three men. When the train reached the station, the three men disembarked, and one man produced a pistol and shot the two other men. The offender then fled the scene.

The victims were transported to hospital, one in stable condition and one in life-threatening condition. The man in life-threatening condition has since been upgraded to stable.

Responding officers circulated the area and quickly took the offender into custody nearby.

As a result, Mostafa JAFARI, 25, of Calgary, has been charged with:

- Two counts of aggravated assault
- Two counts of discharging a firearm with intent
- One count of possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose
- One count of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order
- One count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon

JAFARI is currently remanded in custody and will next appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026.

“Brazen acts of violence like this have no place in Calgary and have a lasting impact on the community,” says Calgary Police Service Acting Staff Sgt. Corey Der. “By needlessly putting members of the public at risk, the offender demonstrated a complete disregard for the safety of others. He will be held accountable for his actions.”

At approximately 1 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, we were called to the 1000 block of Bridlemeadows Manor S.W. for reports of a disturbance involving a man with a weapon.

By the time of officer arrival, the man had entered a residence. After some time, officers engaged him and utilized tactics while attempting to take him into custody. Approximately two hours after the initial call to police, the man exited the residence and a confrontation occurred, which resulted in one officer discharging their Service firearm.

The suspect was transported to hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable condition.

The officer-involved shooting remains under investigation with the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT).

As a result of the investigation into the events leading up to the shooting, Danny MARTIN, 36, has been charged with four counts of assault of a peace officer with a weapon, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and four counts of failure to comply with conditions of a release order.

He will next appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, our Homicide Unit was notified of a deceased woman near the village of Cremona. The circumstances surrounding her death continue to be investigated.

An autopsy completed today, Friday, July 31, 2026, by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, determined the death to be suspicious and identified the victim as 21-year-old Shakira BEARSPAW, of Calgary.

Investigators took one person into custody, and they have since been released.

As the investigation is in its early stages, no additional details are available at this time.

At approximately 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, police were called to the 1400 block of 38 Street S.W., for reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located a man in medical distress. He was transported to hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Following an autopsy completed by the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner, the victim has been identified as Jaden River BIG SORREL HORSE, 23. The death has been deemed a homicide.

Annata'Ksisstsi'Kommaokii De'Channa Hope SMITH, who also goes by Dechanna WELLS, 22, is charged with manslaughter. 

Naatoyikakatosina TaCheáh Heaven WELLS, who also goes by Techeah WELLS, 23, has also been charged with manslaughter.

Their next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026.

If the body is Parker’s, it is believed he entered a culvert in a green space on the west side of Deerfoot Trail and travelled up a pipe and into a network of tunnels on the east side of the roadway.

On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, we received a tip from a member of the public who had located evidence consistent with the clothing Parker was last known to be wearing. Search teams deployed, and as a result, a child’s body was located by specialized search teams from the Calgary Fire Department.

This green space area contains incredibly harsh terrain and is part of a water environment. As with any search involving water, environmental conditions can influence what can be observed and when evidence may become visible.

During the past two weeks, we had conducted searches of the area for Parker, however, there was no evidence located that would suggest a more thorough search of the area was required.

This is not the outcome anyone hoped for. Like so many others, we hoped Parker would be brought home safely. Our thoughts are with Parker's family, loved ones and all those affected by this devastating loss. We know people across the world have spent the past 13 days sharing Parker's information, searching for him and holding onto hope for his safe return.

“Behind every search map, every briefing, every tip and every hour spent looking was a little boy who was deeply loved by his family,” says Chief Katie McLellan. “Today, we grieve alongside them and share in the profound sadness of this loss. Our thoughts are with Parker's family, loved ones, friends and everyone who has been affected by this tragedy.”

We extend our sincere gratitude to the thousands of community members, volunteers, partner agencies and members of the media who assisted in the search effort. The compassion, dedication and support shown throughout this investigation have been extraordinary.

At this time, there is no evidence that criminality was involved in Parker's disappearance.

Search operations are complex and are influenced by factors including terrain, vegetation, weather conditions, visibility and the information available to investigators at the time. While search teams worked extensively and thoroughly throughout this investigation, it is not always possible to completely eliminate every possibility within a broad-scale search area.

We recognize there may be questions about the circumstances of this case and the investigation remains ongoing to answer as many remaining questions as we can for Parker's family.

In cases where no criminality is involved, once a missing person has been located, we remove identifying information, including names and photographs, from public platforms. We do not typically share details about how or where a person was located or publicly disclose whether they were found safe or deceased, to respect the privacy of those affected. With the permission of Parker's family, we have shared information in this case that would not typically be released given the extensive public effort to help find him.

As a CTrain approached the station from the east, the woman walked on to the tracks.

The CTrain operator activated the train’s horn and emergency brakes, however, the female was struck by the train.

Paramedics attended the scene and transported the woman to hospital but sadly, she did not survive.

Over 12 days, officers, specialized units, trained search volunteers, partner agencies and members of the public have worked around the clock to locate Parker. Ground search teams, the Air Support Unit, Canine Unit, Mounted Patrol Team and Mountain Bike Unit have supported search efforts throughout Calgary. Searchers have walked more than 8,600 kilometres, roughly the distance from Calgary to Rome, Italy; dedicated more than 5,500 hours to the operation and searched hundreds of homes and businesses. 

Despite these extensive efforts, including the assessment of more than 600 tips and the review of tens of thousands of CCTV clips from hundreds of individual cameras, residential security camera and dashcam footage, Parker has not yet been located. Based on operational needs, the information currently available and the results of the search to date, we are refocusing from the physical search. Our commitment to locating Parker remains unchanged. Investigators will continue to assess new information and pursue investigative leads.  

“This case has affected the community deeply, and there is not a single member of this team who does not want to find Parker and bring answers to his family,” says Chief Katie McLellan. “We have felt the heartbreak of this search alongside Parker's family and alongside the community that has rallied around them. While our search efforts are evolving, our commitment is not. We will continue to pursue every investigative avenue available to us, and we remain steadfast in our determination to find Parker.”
