Update: Police investigate suspicious death in Shawnessy

After an autopsy completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, today, Friday, March 22, 2024, the death that occurred in the community of Shawnessy has been deemed non-criminal. As such, no further information will be released.

We are currently investigating a suspicious death in the southwest community of Shawnessy.

At approximately 7:15 p.m., Sunday, March 17, 2024, we responded to a residence located in the 200 block of Shawcliffe Circle S.W. for reports of a man in medical distress. Upon arrival, a man suffering from serious injuries was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition. Unfortunately, lifesaving measures were unsuccessful, and the man was declared deceased.

We have taken one person into custody in relation to this event.

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is now investigating. An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Friday, March 22, 2024. Until the completion of the autopsy, no further information can be shared.
