Police investigate fatal collision involving pedestrian

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a fatal collision that occurred on the Centre Street Bridge early this morning.

At approximately 2:15 a.m. today, Sunday, April 21, 2024, a collision occurred between a pedestrian and a vehicle in the 100 block of Centre Street N. 

At the time, it is believed a woman in her mid-20s was walking in the centre lane of northbound Centre Street. While on the roadway, she was struck by a white two-door sport coupe that was travelling northbound and operated by a man in his mid-20s.

The woman came to rest in the centre lane of southbound Centre Street. She was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured and remained at the scene.

Impairment and excessive speed are not considered to be factors in this collision.
