The Escalade and the Toyota moved together to the northeast corner of the intersection where the Toyota struck a lamp post on the driver’s door. The lamp post caused significant intrusion into the driver’s compartment before shearing off at the base. The driver of the Toyota taxi, a 46 year old male, died as a result of the collision. The passenger of the Toyota taxi, a 25 year old female, was critically injured and transported to the Foothills Hospital in life threatening condition.
