Body Recovered from Northeast Calgary Pond

On Thursday, July 24, 2014, at approximately 2 p.m., emergency responders received a report of a possible body in a water retention pond in the area of Stoney Trail and 16 Avenue N.E.

The Calgary Fire Department co-ordinated the recovery of the body.

Because this is currently an undetermined death, the CPS Homicide Unit is investigating.

The deceased is believed to be a male, in his late teens or early 20s. Officers are working to confirm his identity. Manner and cause of death will not be determined until the completion of the autopsy, tentatively scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, July 25, 2014.
