Charges Pending in Child Abduction Case

Charges are pending against a 40-year-old man in connection with a child abduction yesterday evening.

At approximately 8 p.m., on Friday, June 27, 2014, a nine-month-old child was taken from a northeast parking lot by his father. An Amber Alert was issued, but cancelled around 4:30 a.m., today, Saturday, June 28, 2014, after associates of the suspect called police and the boy was handed over to police.

The suspect in this case was taken into custody around the same time. Charges against him are pending. His name will be released once he's seen a Justice of Peace.

The charges include two counts of uttering threats and three counts of breaching conditions. The investigation into the child abduction continues and further charges are expected.

The Calgary Police Service would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.
