Update: Police investigate fatal stabbing

Our Homicide Unit continues to investigate the fatal stabbing of a man that occurred last night. Investigators are now seeking the public’s help to identify two individuals believed to be connected to the incident.

At approximately 7 p.m., yesterday, Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, we were called to the 500 block of Seventh Avenue S.E. for reports of an assault involving a weapon. It is believed two men who were known to each other became involved in a physical altercation, during which one man produced a knife and stabbed the other.

The victim was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition and succumbed to his injuries. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and remains at large.

After speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage, investigators are releasing photos of a man and woman believed to be connected to this incident in hopes of advancing the investigation.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026.

“This was a brazen act of violence that claimed a person’s life,” says Staff Sgt. Mark Rahn of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “We are working to determine exactly what happened and are asking anyone with information to come forward.”
