Two men charged with firearm prohibition, weapons and drug offences

Two men are facing multiple charges after Calgary Police Service District 8 officers arrested them in the southwest community of Pine Creek and seized a loaded handgun and methamphetamine.

At approximately 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, police responded to reports of two individuals trying vehicle door handles in the 0-100 block of Creekside Grove S.W.

When officers arrived, they located two suspects nearby and took them into custody. During the investigation, officers recovered:

  • A loaded Smith & Wesson 9-mm handgun
  • 17.8 grams of methamphetamine
  • A cellular phone
  • Keys to a BMW
  • A garage door opener

As a result of the investigation, Wilfred Bronson BARRETT, 32, has been charged with:

  • One count of possession of a firearm while prohibited
  • One count of possession of a restricted firearm
  • One count of possession of a firearm without a licence
  • One count of obstruction
  • One count of possession of methamphetamine

BARRETT is scheduled to next appear in court on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026.

Dakota Brandon BOLTON, 32, has been charged with:

  • One count of theft under $5,000
  • One count of obstruction

BOLTON is scheduled to next appear in court on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2026.

"This arrest highlights the proactive work being done by our officers to address property crime and remove dangerous weapons and drugs from our communities," says District 8 Insp. Darry Midtdal. "What began as a report of suspicious activity quickly led to the seizure of a loaded firearm and illegal drugs. We appreciate residents who report suspicious behaviour and help us keep Calgary's neighbourhoods safe."
