Man charged following fatal pedestrian collision

We have charged a man approximately one year after a fatal collision in southeast Calgary. 

On Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, at 7:30 a.m., a 79-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle as she walked across Riverbend Drive S.E. 

She died at the scene. 

The driver left the area but returned a few hours later and turned himself into police, who launched an investigation. 

On Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, Tristien Alexander CHEESEMAN, 22, of Calgary, was charged with one count of hit and run causing death and one count of driving with an expired license.

CHEESEMAN will next appear in court on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2026.
