Two charged in $1 million fraud scheme

We have charged two people in connection with a series of frauds involving investment opportunities, university admission, immigration services and loans.

Between February 2021 and June 2023, it is believed the suspects obtained approximately $1 million from multiple victims through several fraudulent schemes.

Investigators believe victims were persuaded to provide money based on claims involving profitable investments, assistance securing admission to prestigious universities and the ability to facilitate Canadian immigration.

As a result, two people have been charged.

Yung-Ho SHANG, who also goes by Adam SHANG, 55, is charged with six counts of fraud over $5,000.

Yun HUA, who also goes by Coco HUA, 51, is charged with two counts of fraud over $5,000.

SHANG and HUA are scheduled to next appear in court on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026.
