Missing Children Society of Canada receives donation from Calgary Police Rodeo Association
UPDATE: A photo of the cheque presentation is now available on The City of Calgary Newsroom
The Calgary Police Service and the Calgary Police Rodeo Association continue to support the efforts of the Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC). In recognition of International Missing Children’s Day on Monday, May 25, 2015, the Calgary Police Rodeo Association will present a cheque to MCSC in support of CodeSearch, one of three components of MCSC’s Search Program.
CodeSearch is a rapid response program, the first of its kind in Canada that engages the corporate community in supporting efforts of the Missing Children Society of Canada and the Calgary Police Service in the search of missing or abducted children.
Several corporations in Calgary, including the Calgary Police Service, WestJet and ENMAX, have already begun to implement the program throughout their organizations, engaging employees in the first ever rapid response network for missing children. The program gives corporations the opportunity to make a difference in the communities where they operate by supporting law enforcement with their resources and people power. Most importantly, it can help prevent tragedies and reunite families.
“We’re thrilled to be able to support this worthwhile cause,” said Det. Mike Cavilla, President of the Calgary Police Rodeo Association. “Getting information out to a wide network of individuals as quickly as possible through CodeSearch helps increase the chances of finding a missing child alive.”
Over the past 11 years, the Rodeo has donated more than $80,000 to the Missing Children Society of Canada.
“We appreciate the long-standing contributions of the Calgary Police Rodeo Association,” said Amanda Pick, Chief Executive Officer, Missing Children Society of Canada. “The support we receive plays an important role in ensuring we can continue to provide this service.”
