Police investigating random sexual assault
Our Sexual Assault Investigative Unit is currently investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred at the Southland LRT station overnight.
On Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, at around 1 a.m., officers were called to the Southland CTrain Station parking lot, located at 10158 Sacramento Dr. S.W., after witnesses reported a vulnerable woman in distress who appeared to have been sexually assaulted. The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition. Investigators believe the woman did not know the man prior to the attack.
The suspect is described as speaking with an accent and having dark brown hair. Witnesses reported seeing a mid-sized, black SUV with chrome trim around the windows flee the area.
“The random nature of this assault is extremely concerning to us. We are asking the public to remain vigilant until this suspect is found and to connect with us if they have any information to provide on this incident or this suspect.”
As a result of this incident, the CPS will be conducting high-profile patrols in this area over the coming days. The victim of this incident has been offered various supports from the Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team (CSART) and the Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA).
As the investigation is in its early stages, no further information is available at this time. More information will be shared when additional details are confirmed.
