Update: Police seek assistance in identifying suspect vehicle in random sexual assault

We are now releasing CCTV images and asking the public for their help in identifying the vehicle driven by a man who is believed to be responsible for a random sexual assault that took place earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, at around 1 a.m., officers were called to the Southland CTrain Station parking lot, located at 10158 Sacramento Dr. S.W., after witnesses reported a vulnerable woman in distress who appeared to have been sexually assaulted. The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition. Investigators believe the woman did not know the man prior to the attack.

The suspect is described as speaking with an accent and having dark brown hair. Witnesses reported seeing a mid-sized, black SUV with chrome trim around the windows flee the area.

Investigators have spent dozens of hours collecting and reviewing CCTV footage from the area and are now able to share photos of the vehicle that the suspect was believed to be driving.

We are asking anyone with information about this incident or dashcam footage from the area to contact police.

“We know that this incident has caused concern for many Calgarians. In addition to conducting increased police patrols, our investigators are using every available resource to identify the person responsible for this random assault. However, we need the public’s help. Anyone who recognizes this vehicle or has information, no matter how small, is asked to contact police.”
