Update - Police investigate suspicious death in Rosscarrock

We have charged two individuals following a suspicious death in the southwest community of Rosscarrock earlier this week.

At approximately 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, police were called to the 1400 block of 38 Street S.W., for reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located a man in medical distress. He was transported to hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Following an autopsy completed by the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner, the victim has been identified as Jaden River BIG SORREL HORSE, 23. The death has been deemed a homicide.

Annata'Ksisstsi'Kommaokii De'Channa Hope SMITH, who also goes by Dechanna WELLS, 22, is charged with manslaughter. 

Naatoyikakatosina TaCheáh Heaven WELLS, who also goes by Techeah WELLS, 23, has also been charged with manslaughter.

Their next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026.
