Eight charged, 18 firearms seized in organized crime investigation
We have charged eight individuals and seized 18 firearms and $58,500 worth of drugs following an 11-month investigation into an alleged drug-trafficking and organized-crime network operating in Calgary.
In September 2025, police became aware of a man believed to be involved in drug trafficking in Calgary. The CPS Organized Crime Enforcement Team began investigating and quickly identified a network of individuals who were believed to be engaged in drug trafficking, firearms offences, vehicle re-vinning and prescription fraud.
Throughout the course of the investigation, officers wrote 74 judicial authorizations, executed 15 search warrants and seized dozens of exhibits, including digital devices and physical evidence. Due to the scope of the investigation, searches and arrests were co-ordinated in a multi-phased approach.
Prescription fraud investigation leads to charges
On Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, investigators executed search warrants at a residence located in the 253200 block of 84 Street, in Delacour, Alta., a residence located in the 100 block of Clearwater Terrace, in Chestermere, Alta., and a Jeep associated with the suspects. During these searches, we seized:
- $7,690 in cash and a cash counter
- Several forged prescription documents
- Prescription medication believed to be obtained with forged prescriptions
- A radio-frequency jammer
In March 2026, a man and woman were arrested.
Ausama MOHAMED, 28, of Chestermere, is charged with two counts each of possession of the proceeds of crime and possession of forged documents. He has since been released and will appear in court on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026.
Bonnie LEBLANC, 40, of Delacour, is charged with seven counts of uttering a forged document and six counts of possession of the proceeds of crime. She has since been released and will appear in court on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026.
Drug-trafficking investigation leads to firearm and drug seizures
On Monday, March 9, 2026, investigators executed search warrants at a residence located in the 100 block of Cityside Grove N.E., an apartment located in the 200 block of 13 Avenue S.W., and three vehicles. During these searches, we seized:
- A loaded Girsan MC14 BDA handgun
- 137 rounds of ammunition
- $15,410 in cash
- 160.2 grams of methamphetamine
- 115.1 grams of cocaine
- 23 OxyContin pills
- Other items consistent with drug trafficking, including packaging materials, buffing agent and cell phones
Of note, officers located 107 individually wrapped baggies of methamphetamine and cocaine that had been concealed in the door panelling of the vehicles searched.
Two men have since been charged.
Mohammed SALIMI, 22, and Omed SALIMI, 25, both of Calgary, are each charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000. Both men were released from custody. Mohammed SALIMI will appear in court on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, and Omed SALIMI, will appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026.
Traffic stop leads to further drug-trafficking charges
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, members of our Gang Suppression Team also conducted a traffic stop on an individual also believed to be involved in drug trafficking. The vehicle was seized for examination, and the suspect was arrested on an outstanding warrant. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed the following items that had been concealed behind a panel between the vehicle’s gear shift and infotainment centre:
- A loaded Smith & Wesson SD9 VE handgun
- A baggie of ammunition
- 128.8 grams of powder and crack cocaine, packaged into 63 individual baggies
- Brass knuckles
Investigators issued warrants for the arrest of the suspect, who had been released the previous day, and on Monday, July 13, 2026, he was arrested after fleeing from a traffic stop in the community of Thorncliffe. Upon his arrest, officers located the following items:
- 46.3 grams of powder and crack cocaine, in 39 individually wrapped baggies
- 11 pills suspected to be fentanyl
- A small amount of cash
Jayson McCORMACK, 21, of Calgary, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of resisting arrest, carrying a concealed firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm with ammunition, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of the proceeds of crime. McCORMACK was released from custody and will appear in court on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026.
Additional arrests made in firearms and drug-trafficking investigation
On Thursday, March 26, 2026, with the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team, a property in the 245000 block of Range Road 283 in Rocky View County, Alta., was searched. One man was arrested at the residence. On the same day, investigators in Calgary searched an apartment located in the 1800 block of 26 Avenue S.W., and arrested two men as they attended a scheduled probation appointment. Two vehicles were also searched.
During these searches, we seized:
- 13 rifles, including four that were hidden in a concealed room
- Two loaded handguns, including a 9 mm Taurus and a 9 mm Hellcat
- A loaded Churchill shotgun
- More than 760 rounds of assorted ammunition
- Body armour
- 81.8 grams of powder and crack cocaine, in individually wrapped baggies
- 64.8 grams of MDMA
- $9,630 in cash
- A stolen Dodge Challenger
- A stolen Dodge Ram that had been re-vinned
- Scales, drug packaging materials and multiple cell phones
- A baseball bat, crowbars and a mask, found in a vehicle
On Thursday, July 16, 2026, two men were arrested and charged. Warrants were issued for a third man on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
Ahed ALWAN, 30, of Calgary, is charged with one count each of breach of a firearms prohibition, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, possession of a firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of the proceeds of crime. ALWAN was held in custody and will appear in court on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026.
Asrar MANSOURI, 29, of Calgary, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of carrying a concealed firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm with ammunition, possession of the proceeds of crime and possession of a controlled substance. MANSOURI was released from custody and will appear in court on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026.
Christopher HAYWARD, 45, of Calgary, is charged with four counts of breaching a firearms prohibition, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, impersonation to gain advantage and possession of the proceeds of crime.
