Suspicious death near Cremona under investigation

Our Homicide Unit is currently investigating a suspicious death after a deceased woman was located near Cremona, Alberta.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, our Homicide Unit was notified of a deceased woman near the village of Cremona. The circumstances surrounding her death continue to be investigated.

An autopsy completed today, Friday, July 31, 2026, by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, determined the death to be suspicious and identified the victim as 21-year-old Shakira BEARSPAW, of Calgary.

Investigators took one person into custody, and they have since been released.

As the investigation is in its early stages, no additional details are available at this time.
