Calgary man facing 12 charges in stolen vehicle incident
District 6 patrol members have charged a man in relation to fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle at a high rate of speed in residential areas in the city’s southwest last week.
On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at approximately 11:20 p.m., a woman called police after she noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in the 800 block of Stonehaven Road S.W. The woman then saw what appeared to be two unknown individuals underneath her vehicle, who then retreated to a truck and left the area.
Police spotted the truck approximately five minutes later and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Southampton Drive S.W., north of Elbow Drive S.W. The suspect failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.
HAWCS was engaged to safely observe the vehicle, which was driving recklessly and operating at dangerous speeds though neighbourhoods, and on major roadways while passing vehicles on the shoulder.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., an unknown woman exited the vehicle and was unable to be located.
Shortly after, officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device as the vehicle travelled northbound on Elbow Drive S.W.
At midnight, the suspect abandoned the vehicle, which was determined to be stolen, and entered a residence in the 11100 block of Sacramento Drive S.W. The suspect was arrested at approximately 12:20 a.m.
“With the help of HAWCS, patrol members, and our Canine and Tactical Support Units, we were able to safely apprehend the suspect who endangered the lives of Calgarians with their blatant disregard for public safety as they sped through residential areas, intersections and busy roads,” says Insp. Scott Neilson of the Calgary Police Service. “This is a great example of teamwork and coordination of multiple resources across the Service to protect the community and hold people accountable for their actions.”
Police conducted a search of the stolen vehicle and seized the following items:
- Two stolen Alberta licence plates
- A stolen 2021 Haro bicycle valued at $729
- A bag of break and enter tools including a crowbar, screw drivers and wrenches
- Stolen vehicle insurance and registration documents
As a result, Travis Lee CRAMER, 31, is charged with:
- One count of flight from police
- One count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- One count of operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited
- Six counts of possession of stolen property
- One count of possession of break and enter tools
CRAMER is also facing two charges under the Traffic Safety Act for driving without insurance and unauthorized use of plates.
He is scheduled to next appear in court on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026.
