Drive-by shooting investigation

The Calgary Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit continues to investigate a drive-by shooting that occurred last night.

At approximately 7:15 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, two occupants of a pickup truck arrived at the Calgary Police Service Traffic Office in northeast Calgary to report they had been shot at while driving.

It is believed that two vehicles, a white minivan and a black truck, chased the victims from the community of Nolan Hill along a circular route throughout north Calgary. Shots were fired at the victim’s vehicle while in the community of Thorncliffe. An uninvolved Jeep Cherokee that was unoccupied and parked in the area at the time of the shooting was also struck by bullets.

Investigators believe this was a targeted attack by a group of individuals known to the victims as part of an ongoing dispute. It is not yet known if the shooting is connected to any of the other shootings that have recently occurred.

The Calgary Police Service continues to dedicate as many resources as possible to intervene, suppress and respond to violent incidents in the city. A number of operations are currently underway to identify the people believed to be involved, and to gather the evidence necessary to lay charges.
