Update on the Westin Hotel parkade

On Monday, May 27 The City of Calgary was informed about potential concerns regarding public and structural safety at the Westin Hotel parkade.

The City’s Safety Response Unit has investigated and reviewed the sites structural engineering documents for temporary shoring of columns in the parkade. It has been determined that The City’s requirements for a project of this type have been satisfied at this time with regards to the protection of the public.

A permit for the remediation work will be submitted which will allow for work to commence in the coming weeks.  The City will then monitor the Westin parkade through normal inspections as a permitted construction site.
