Water use stays in the green zone as Bearspaw South Feeder Main work progresses

For the second day in a row, water use across Calgary and our neighbouring communities remains in the green zone, with yesterday’s use at 490 million litres. Thank you for all your water-saving efforts, let’s keep the momentum going!

To stay in the green zone, which is below 500 million litres a day, we are asking everyone to continue to:

·       Stop all outdoor water use,

·       Run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads.

·       Flush toilets only when needed.

·       Keep showers to three minutes or less.

Water restrictions apply to all residents and businesses. Please help us spread the word to your family, friends, coworkers and neighbours.

Looking ahead

Draining of the existing Bearspaw South Feeder Main continues today and is expected to be completed over the weekend.

Today, crews are setting up equipment storage areas and traffic detours at 83 Street N.W., 89 Street N.W. and Parkdale Boulevard. Hydrovac work is underway near Broadview Park, and crews will begin cutting the road surface on Parkdale Boulevard and 89 Street N.W.

We ask everyone to please follow all pathway detours and stay clear of worksites.
