Free ice skating on Thanksgiving Monday

Join us on Oct. 12 from 1 to 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. for free family skating at these locations:

Free swimming on Thanksgiving Monday

Join us from Oct. 12 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and 3 to 4:30 p.m. for free family swimming at these locations:

Due to the popularity of our free swims, we ask that you only attend one time slot. Pools may be cleared at 2:30p.m. to make room for new customers.

Weight rooms will also be open during these times.

Tee up at City golf courses
Driving ranges and golf courses are open; book your tee time at calgary.ca/golf.

Note: Oct. 12 is the final day to golf at McCall Par 3. Golf courses will be closed on Oct. 10 and 11, set to re-open Oct. 12. Due to below zero temperatures, all our golf courses will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. However, with weather forecasts continuing to change, please check calgary.ca/golfschedule for course status.

Getting around

Calgary Transit 
On Thanksgiving Monday, Oct. 12, Calgary Transit will be operating buses, CTrains and On Demand on a Sunday level of service. For more information on fares, schedules and Customer Service hours over the long weekend, visit calgarytransit.com.

Red Line closure: 
From Oct. 10 to 12, the Red Line will be closed between Chinook and Heritage stations in order to complete work on multiple projects. Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between the two impacted stations. Full CTrain service is scheduled to resume at these stations by start of service on Tuesday, Oct. 13.  More information can be found at calgarytransit.com/CTrain-service.

Single tracking: 
The Blue Line will be running a single track only on parts of the West LRT starting Oct. 10 until the early morning of Oct. 12. This will impact 69 Street Station as well as 45 Street to Shaganappi Point Stations. Work will switch sides as required over the course of the weekend, customers are asked to please keep an eye on displays and listen for announcements to ensure they’re on the correct platform.

Calgary Parking
Enjoy free parking in on-street ParkPlus zones on Monday, Oct. 12. Weekend rates apply at all Calgary Parking parkades and surface lots. Please note that regular rates will be in effect at partner lots such as TELUS Spark, the Calgary Stampede, Calgary Zoo and Heritage Park.

The Calgary Parking Contact Centre and Impound Lot will be closed on Monday, Oct. 12. For more information, please visit Calgary Parking.

Road construction and traffic safety
The following road closures may affect travel. Calgarians are encouraged to visit calgary.ca/trafficinfo before travelling for a full list of current traffic incidents, road closures and detours.

Southwest

  • 5 Avenue S.W. and 3 Street S.W. – multi-lane closures on 5 Avenue S.W. and a full road closure on 3 Street S.W. for ongoing ENMAX manhole rebuild work.
  • 14 Street S.W. between 17 Avenue S.W. and 19 Avenue S.W. – two-way traffic is in place on the west side during ongoing work.
  • 11 Street S.W. between 9 Ave and 10 Avenue S.W. – full road closure for CPKC railway repair.
  • 8 Street S.W. project – northbound closure on 8 Street S.W. between 8 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. during ongoing project work.

Northwest

  • 16 Avenue N.W. at Monterey Avenue N.W. – lane reversal with two eastbound lanes on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Southeast

  • 6 Street S.E. underpass – lane closures on 9 Avenue S.E. between 5 Street S.E. and 8 Street S.E. for underpass project work.
  • Ogden Road S.E. between Millican Road and 68 Street S.E. – full road closure for utility work for Green Line Project.
  • Shawville Gate between Somervale Court S.W. & Shawville Link S.E. – full road closure for LRT track repairs.

Northeast

  • 16 Avenue N.E. and Deerfoot Trail N.E. – ongoing closure at 16 Avenue N.E. and Deerfoot Trail N.E.
  • Memorial Drive N.E. between 68 Street N.E. and Abbeydale Drive N.E. – multi-lane closures for project work.
