Noise Snare Program cancelled

The City of Calgary has cancelled the Noise Snare program. This decision was made in consultation with the inventor prior to the scheduled deployment on June 20, 2013.

 

“It’s unfortunate that we could not find resolution. My thanks to the inventor who provided the technology at no cost to the City to conduct a trial last year,” said Tracy Bertsch, Director, Animal & Bylaw Services. “In this case the business objectives associated with the trial were not achieved. We will continue to seek out other options, including new technology as it becomes available.”

 

The City conducted a four-month trial of the product in 2012. The announcement of the cancellation of the program was delayed by the State of Local Emergency that was declared on June 20, 2013.

 

This decision does not impact the day to day operations of Animal & Bylaw Services. Citizens are encouraged to report excessive vehicle noise complaints to 3-1-1.
