Collecting household hazardous waste and appliances in flood affected areas
Chemical and other collection trucks are now driving through flood affected areas to collect household hazardous waste, large items and appliances.
You should leave these items in front of your house. Do not take them to the community garbage collection sites, and do not put them in the back lanes. If there are any items on your lawn that you do not want collected, mark them with a sign.
Chemical trucks will be collecting:
- Household hazardous waste like propane tanks, chemicals and paints. Please keep these items separate from other garbage.
Other trucks will be collecting:
- Appliances including fridges, stoves, washing machines and dishwashers. Please remove or secure refrigerator or freezer doors before leaving them out.
- Mattresses, couches, and other large items.
We will get to all neighbourhoods as quickly as we can, but your patience is appreciated.
You can also take these materials at no charge to the Throw ‘N’ Go areas of the three City landfills. City landfills are open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
