City Auditor Leaving The City of Calgary

Calgary, AB: Today, City Auditor Todd Horbasenko announced his resignation from The City of Calgary. Mr. Horbasenko will conclude his contract on May 31, 2013 for personal reasons.

 

“We are saddened to learn that Mr. Horbasenko will be leaving us,” said Alderman Gael MacLeod, Chair of the Audit Committee. “Under his leadership, the City Auditor’s Office has become a strong department supporting efficiency, transparency, and accountability in The City of Calgary.”

 

In his time as City Auditor, Mr. Horbasenko has set a high standard for audit quality and initiated reviews of The City’s civic partners and an external quality review of the City Auditor’s Office, which will be available in March. The City Auditor’s Office has also added the opportunity for business units and civic partners to use the expertise of the office in an advisory role.

 

“Mr. Horbasenko has done a great job putting together an experienced, independent auditor’s office and he and his expertise will be missed,” said Mayor Naheed Nenshi. “We wish him well in his future endeavours.”

 

“I have truly enjoyed my experience with The City of Calgary and will assist Audit Committee and City Council in any way possible to ensure a smooth transition for Calgary’s next City Auditor,” said Mr. Horbasenko.

 

The Audit Committee will begin a search for a new City Auditor immediately.
