Update - State of Local Emergency

The City of Calgary remains in a state of local emergency while recovery and clean up efforts continue.
 
Information for displaced citizens
 
Reception Centres:
 
Reception centres can provide food and access to specialized services as well as arrange accommodation for people still displaced as a result of recent flooding.
 
Displaced residents must register at Centre Street Church (3900 2 St NE) to access reception centre services.
 
Water
 
Effective midnight (12 a.m., Sunday, June 30) The City of Calgary is lifting outdoor water use restrictions for all customers, including Airdrie, Chestermere and Strathmore.
 
While restrictions have been lifted we ask that Calgarians, as always, continue to use water wisely. Visit Calgary.ca for water conservation tips.
 
Flow rates
- Elbow River: below the Glenmore Dam – now at 40 CMS (normal flows for this time of year).
- Bow River: below the Bearspaw Dam – remains at 450 CMS , and expected to hold there for the next 12 -18 hours.
- Flow at confluence of the two rivers – approximately 500 CMS, and expected to hold there for the next 12-18 hours.
 
Transit
 
- City Hall Station is now open and the 201 is now running from Crowfoot through the downtown  to City Hall.
- Shuttle bus locations are located at 1 St. SW (across from The Bay) and Northbound Macleod Trail (Old City Hall).

Flood related road closures
 
  • 4 Street SE Underpass (water pumping ongoing)
  • 9 Avenue between 4 Street and 6 Street SE (due to sinkhole)
  • St. Georges Drive SE (12 Street SE Bridge)
  • Restricted access to the Baines bridge (Calgary Zoo employees only)
  • 25 Avenue SE Bridge between Macleod Trail and 4 Street SE
  • MacDonald Avenue Bridge (near 7 Street SE) restricted to Transit only
  • Eastbound Heritage Drive SE ramp to Glenmore Trail northbound
  • Northbound Glenmore Trail SE ramp to westbound Heritage Drive SE
  • Eastbound Memorial Drive NW from 10 Street NW to Edmonton Trail NE
     
Resources for Clean up
 
The City of Calgary has opened two downtown waste collection sites intended only for overflow use by building owners, occupants and their clean-up contractors, not foruse of commercial waste haulers.
 
The City has set up two collection areas that will operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily until further notice:
  • Old Cecil Hotel Parking Lot – 401 3 Street SE
  • City of Calgary Roads Depot – 1023 4 Avenue SW
 
These sites accept the following materials in designated bins:
  • spoiled food
  • flood damaged materials
  • electronics and appliances (including refrigerators)

For information on how to clean up after a flood and how to prevent indoor air problems, residents should visit the Alberta Health Services website or call HEALTHLink Alberta at 1-866-408-5465.
