Tips for identifying a legitimate licensed limousine
Calgary, October 30, 2013 - Limousine service is a luxury form of transportation regulated by The City of Calgary.
Limousine service must be pre-arranged and (except for zone-based fares to and from the Calgary International Airport) the minimum hourly rate for any trip provided by a limousine is $78.30.
"Our primary concern is for the safety of Calgarians, and that means - when pre-arranging service - making sure the vehicle and driver hold valid City of Calgary limousine licences," says Marc Halat, Chief Licence Officer, The City of Calgary
When pre-arranging a limousine through whatever means (e.g., phone, fax, email, smart phone APP, etc.), The City advises Calgarians to ensure the limousine and driver that arrive to provide the service are licensed. Effective October 1, 2013, licensed limousines will have a small red “City of Calgary Licensed Limousine” decal on the rear windshield (driver side). (Note: Orange decals expired September 30, 2013.) Drivers are also required to display at all times their City of Calgary-issued limousine drivers license in plain view in the interior of the limousine.
The minimum hourly rate for limousine service is set relative to taxi meter rates.
