The City of Calgary present the W.O. Mitchell Book Prize Finalists reading at the Rose & Crown Pub

The City of Calgary and the Writers Guild of Alberta present the 2012 W.O. Mitchell Book Prize shortlisted Author’s reading at the Rose and Crown pub (1503 4 Street S.W.), on Tuesday, May 14. The reading runs from 7 to 9 p.m.  in a private room on the second level and is free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis so please arrive early as well as RSVP to swarwick@writersguild.ab.ca toavoid disappointment.

 

Authors will read from their nominated books and answer questions. WGA’s Samantha Warwick and last year’s book prize winner, Suzette Mayr for Monoceros (Coach House Books) will host the reading. A social and celebration will follow the formal program.

 

The 2012 W.O. Mitchell Prize shortlisted authors that will read include Theanna Bischoff for Swallow (NeWest Press), Marcello Di Cintio for Walls: Travels Along the Barricades (Goose Lane Editions), and Andrew Nikiforuk for The Energy of Slaves: Oil and New Servitude (Greystone Books).

 

The winner of The City of Calgary W.O. Mitchell Book Prize will be recognized at the Calgary Awards presentation on June 12, 2013. The Calgary Awards will be televised live on Shaw TV.
