The City of Calgary offers healthy alternative for trick-or-treaters

Don’t miss out on getting healthy Halloween treats for the ghouls and goblins in your neighbourhood. The City of Calgary Recreation is selling Halloween swim coupons to give the trick-or-treaters coming to your door a fun and healthy alternative.

“This is one of our most popular promotions. We sell out of the coupon booklets each year so I encourage everyone to buy their booklets early to avoid disappointment,” said Heather Cowie, regional manager with Recreation.

For the past eight years, Recreation has been promoting swim coupons to handout out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween.  And for the past eight years, the limited edition coupons sell out well before Halloween.

Each booklet sells for $5 and contains 10 coupons for children, aged two to 17, to redeem for a free swim. New this year, the Halloween swim coupon booklet includes one swim coupon for a City leisure centre, in addition to nine coupons to use at any of the City aquatic & fitness centres. Swim coupons can be redeemed during public swim times from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31, 2014.

“We have a large number of coupons redeemed at our pools following Halloween. We know kids love swimming and spending time in our water parks and with free admission for the kids it’s a great opportunity for parents to check out our facilities,” said Cowie.

Calgarians can purchase the Halloween swim coupons from a variety of Recreation locations or online at cityonline.calgary.ca and will be on sale until Oct. 31. For more information visit calgary.ca/Recreation.
