The City of Calgary and the Calgary Public Library invite Calgarians to ring in 2019 with a free New Year’s Eve celebration

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The City of Calgary and the Calgary Public Library host a free New Year’s Eve celebration for the whole family. This year’s festivities include The Rumpus Room in the Municipal Building Atrium, a family dance party in the Central Library, a skating party in Olympic Plaza and the ENMAX fireworks.

The events begin in the Central Library with crafts and activities for all ages, including Indigenous beading and children’s virtual reality and a kid’s countdown at 9 p.m. with Mayor Naheed Nenshi. In the Municipal Atrium Rumpus Room there will the Calgary Flames indoor hockey rink, a bouncy castle and the ENMAX photo booth. Outdoors at Olympic Plaza there will be firepits, ice sculptures and the skating party. The Tim Horton's truck will be in Olympic Plaza providing free hot drinks. Food trucks will be parked on 3 St S.E. and across all three sites there will be art and roaming performers.

The night will end with the ENMAX fireworks on the roof of the Calgary Tower. Olympic Plaza will be the best viewing spot for the ENMAX fireworks. There will also be a live stream of the fireworks available at calgary.ca/live or on twitter @cityofcalgary.
