The City now requires mandatory site safety plans

Starting June 19^th public protection site safety plans must be submitted at the time of application for construction, demolition, or major alterations of a façade on buildings five storeys or greater.

 

According to Marco Civitarese, chief building inspector with The City of Calgary “These plans are intended to increase public safety around construction sites at all times. We have worked closely with the construction industry in Calgary to determine plan requirements and to develop a review process.” Civitarese added “No construction or demolition should occur until the plan has been approved and posted; this will ensure everyone on the site knows the safety plan and those in the community can feel safe about the construction occurring on that site.”

 

The permit and site safety plan must be posted at the construction site until completion or occupancy has been granted.

 

This new requirement improves the safety of all Calgarians who come in contact with construction sites.
