The Calgary Fire Department responds to “Auto-Fluff” fire at South East metal recycling plant

At approximately 6:30 this morning the Calgary Fire Department was called to the 3400 block of Ogden Road SE for reports of a rubbish fire.  While en route fire crews observed significant fire and immediately called for additional resources.  Upon arrival, fire crews encountered and large pile of “Auto Fluff” engulfed in flames.  Utilizing large volume hose streams, supplied by two fire hydrants, the fire was brought under control.  Once under control, firefighters worked with site management, who engaged heavy equipment, to disassemble and relocate the Auto Fluff.  Fire crews inspected the product as it was being moved to ensure no burning embers or hot spots were present. The Fire Department remains on scene at this time. There were no reports of injury. Fire investigators are involved. Traffic in the area is unaffected at this time.
