Thanksgiving 2014 hours of operation for City of Calgary facilities

The City of Calgary is adjusting its hours of operation on Thanksgiving: Monday, Oct. 13, 2014.

Calgary Transit

Calgary Transit will offer a Sunday level of service on Monday, Oct. 13. Both Transit Customer Service Centres are closed on Thanksgiving, and the Call Centre is open from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

From Saturday, Oct. 11, through Monday (Thanksgiving Day), Oct. 13, Lions Park and SAIT/ACAD/Jubilee CTrain stations will be closed for maintenance and platform extension work. Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between Banff Trail and Sunnyside stations and will run at the same frequency as CTrains.

Aquatics and Fitness Centres
The following aquatics and fitness centres will have Free Swimming from 1-2:30 p.m. and 3-4:30pm (half hour break will be waived if capacity permits) on Monday, Oct. 13:

  • CANYON MEADOWS
  • RENFREW
  • SHOULDICE
  • THORNHILL

All other aquatics and fitness centres will be closed on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014. 
*Glenmore Aquatic & Fitness Centre remains closed for renovations.

Outdoor Pools
All eight outdoor pools are closed for the season.

Leisure Centres
Southland Leisure Centre and Village Square Leisure Centre will be open on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Arenas
​The following arenas will have Free skating from 1-2:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13:

  • FRANK MCCOOL
  • MURRAY COPOT
  • OPTIMIST/BLUNDUN
  • KOHN/CONDON
  • SHOULDICE
  • HENDRY/ VINEY
  • STU PEPPARD

All other arenas will be closed on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, except for any advanced bookings.

Art Centres
The North Mount Pleasant and Wildflower Arts Centres will be closed on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014.

Athletic Parks
All Athletic Parks are closed on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, except for any advanced bookings.

Parks

Inglewood Bird Sanctuary and Nature Centre
The Nature Centre is open Saturday, October 11, from 12 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. and closed Sunday and Monday, October 12-13, 2014. The Nature Centre will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, October 14, 2014.

The Sanctuary’s trails will remain closed throughout 2014 due to flood damage.

Devonian Gardens
Devonian Gardens follow the same hours as the CORE Shopping Centre.
Thanksgiving:  Open 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Animal Services Centre

Monday to Friday: open 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday: open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. 
Thanksgiving 2014: Closed

Residential Garbage & Recycling Collection
Residential garbage & recycling collection is not affected on Thanksgiving.

Landfills
Spyhill, East Calgary and Shepard Landfills are open daily from 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. through November 9.

Administrative Offices
Administrative offices including the Calgary Municipal Building will be closed on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014.

Other Facilities

Fort Calgary
Open year round, every day from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Closed January 1, Good Friday, December 24, 25, 26 and 31.

Calgary Zoo
Gates open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily. Zoo Grounds close at 6 p.m.
The southwest gate entrance remains closed due to construction.

Heritage Park
Heritage Town Square, Gasoline Alley Museum and the Historical Village are all open on Thanksgiving.
The Historical Village will close for the winter season beginning October 14, 2014.

TELUS Spark
Open Thanksgiving Weekend (Oct. 11 - 13) from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
