Sharing thanks with Calgary Transit: Thank Your Driver Day!

On Friday, March 17, join us in celebrating Thank Your Driver Day to recognize our hard-working bus and CTrain operators. Every weekday more than half a million Calgarians get around the city with the help of Calgary Transit’s bus, CTrain, shuttle and Access drivers. They don’t have an easy job, they just make it look that way.

“I am proud to work with a team dedicated to keeping Calgary moving especially when times are tough. Our drivers make the lives of Calgarians better every day,” says Calgary Transit Director Doug Morgan. “We want to highlight a day where our customers can make a point of saying, ‘Thanks, you do a lot for Calgary and we’re proud to have you here.’”

It’s easy to show your appreciation by greeting your driver with a smile and a wave. But on this special day, we’re also encouraging you to:

  • Share your thanks on Twitter or Instagram @CalgaryTransit and use the hashtag #thanksCT
  • Fill out this online form to send a message of thanks.
  • Print this card and give it in person next time you hop onboard.
  • A friendly word, a smile or a wave is all it takes to show gratitude.

Transit operators do so much more than drive; they help us honour our Customer Commitment offering safe, reliable, helpful service by ensuring passenger safety, keeping to a schedule, giving directions, remembering stop requests, all while manoeuvring large vehicles through unpredictable traffic and harsh weather. Most do all this and more with a smile on their face.

Thank Your Driver Day is traditionally celebrated on March 18 because on that day in 1662, bus service debuted in Paris with horse-drawn vehicles.

Calgary Transit employs approximately 2,400 bus, CTrain and shuttle drivers. Join us a day early on March 17 to thank at least one of them to show appreciation for the work they do 365 days a year.
