System test error results in emails to citizens about working for Vote 2018
Due to the potential for a disruption of mail services, The City has been exploring alternatives to deliver employment confirmation letters to Vote 2018 workers.
During a test by Information Technology today of an email distribution system, emails were inadvertently sent to 853 citizens indicating they had been selected to work during Vote 2018.
The test email was intended for one recipient, however it was inadvertently sent to 853 people who previously worked for The City on either an election or during a census.
No personal or financial information was included in the e-mail.
The City is working to contact all recipients of the e-mail to notify them of the error. Staff at the Election Office are available during regular business hours to address questions from recipients.
The City apologizes for the error.
