State of local Emergency Update: Community Support Centres

As Calgary continues to recover, The City is adjusting to meet citizens’ needs and help those returning to the affected areas as safely and quickly as possible. To do this, nine Community Support Centres are opening in flood affected areas to connect returning citizens quickly with essential services.

Community Support Centres can be found at the following locations and are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.:

- Bowness Community Association – 7904 43 Ave N.W.

- Bridgeland Riverside Community Association – 917 Centre Ave N.E.

- Cliff Bungalow/Mission Community Association – 2201 Cliff St S.W.

- Connaught Community School – 1121 12 Ave SW

- Elbow Park Tennis Club– 800 34 Ave S.W.

- Inglewood Community Association – 1740 24 Ave S.E.

- Park Hill Stanley Park Community Association – 4013 Stanley Rd SW

- Hillhurst/Sunnyside community Association – 1320 5 Ave NW

- Sing Tao Daily Newspaper– 116 3 Ave SE

Community Support Centres are being staffed by representatives with the following essential services:

- Calgary Police Services

- Calgary Fire Department

- Water Resources

- Waste and Recycling

- Development and Building Approvals (inspections)

- ATCO

Service representatives at the Community Support Centres are there to help Calgarians quickly access the services they need to get back into their homes safely. The Centres will provide direct access to resources to get water, power and gas service restored along with necessary inspections.

The City had previously asked you to put signs in windows. With the opening of the Community Support Centres, citizens are now being asked to remove any signs in their windows indicating which services are needed (P, W and or G). Go to one of the Community Support Centres and speak directly with one of the representatives.

The City wants to insure Calgarians are being quickly connected with the essential services they need to get home safely. However, there is a lot of work still be done so we ask those visiting the centres to please be patient as we continue our recovery efforts.
