Renfrew pool refreshed
Renfrew Aquatic and Recreation Centre will fully reopen today, February 10, following an upgrade that utilizes technologies that reduce environmental impacts and ensures the facility continues to be a valued recreational resource for all Calgarians to enjoy.
The pool area has been closed since December 30, 2013, to address ongoing maintenance and upgrades required to the 44-year-old facility.
“We are excited to welcome back everyone to our more environmentally-friendly facility,” says Sue Goulden, Complex Coordinator with City Recreation. “Our improved water clarity and new safety devices will make for a better swimming experience.”
The renovations were part of The City of Calgary Recreation’s regular maintenance and upkeep. They include upgrading the pool area lighting with brighter more energy-efficient bulbs; new fitness equipment including 13 spin bikes with more equipment to follow; new cabinetry, storage and flooring in the babysitting room; and a new filtration system. As well, updated anti-entrapment drains and piping were installed.
