PSA: Sewer system clean-up and flood recovery in Mission

The flood of 2013 has had many visible and profound impacts to our city; however the water has also created many less-visible impacts to underground infrastructure, including the deposit of sediment, silt and debris into our sewer and storm systems. To mitigate the potential for issues caused by these deposits, and to support the recovery of the areas impacted by the flooding, the City of Calgary, Water Services will be conducting sanitary main power-flushing in the neighbourhood of Mission over the next two weeks.

Power flushing helps ensure the water infrastructure operates correctly and as efficiently as possible, removes any lasting deposits that may be present from the recent flood events and supports the safe and continued operation of our sanitary system. Water Services does not anticipate that this work will cause any impact to residents or businesses.

Other flood-impacted communities will also have the same power flushing treatments performed on a planned maintenance schedule.

Please note that this work schedule may change due to unplanned issues or emergency priority-work.

We are committed to providing Calgarians with safe and reliable water and to completing this work in as timely manner as possible.
