Power restored to parts of downtown

Following inspections by The City of Calgary, Enmax has restored power to most buildings in the northwest portion of the downtown core.

A comparatively small number of individual buildings may still be without power because of specific electrical or structural issues which need to be resolved.

The area that has been reenergized and opened to the public is west of 2 St. S.W. all the way to the Bow River, plus land north of Riverfront Ave. between 2 St S.W. and Centre St.

Opening the area to the public will also allow access to the Peace Bridge.

Prince’s Island will not be open to the public at this time.

The opening will permit business tenants to return to assess possible damage to their businesses.

As the area has not yet been fully cleaned, there may be silt and debris on the roadways and sidewalks. Please exercise caution.

In addition, the following buildings which have direct feeds from Enmax also have power:

BP Centre, 240 4 Ave SW

Sunlife Plaze, Towers 1, 2 and 3, 144 4 Ave SW

Telus Tower, 411 1 St S.E.

5^th Av. Place, W and E Towers, 421 1 St. SW

Encana Plaza 150 9 Ave. SW

TransAlta Place, Towers 1 and 2

Suncor Energy , 150 6 Ave. SW

Bow Valley Square, Tower 3 only

This allows representatives of the buildings’ tenants return for inspection and remediation. These buildings are not open to the public or employees at the present time.
