Multiple charges laid in police investigation

The Calgary Police Service has laid several charges against two men after an investigation that initially started with an illegally parked car.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, officers were on patrol when they witnessed an illegally parked car in the strip mall at Falshire Drive and Falton Drive N.E. When the two male occupants spotted police, they drove away in the grey SUV.

The officers ran the plate and the vehicle came back as being stolen. When they attempted to pull over the SUV it failed to stop and fled. With HAWC overhead, police were able to keep track of the vehicle without initiating a potentially dangerous ground pursuit. At times, the vehicle reached speeds of up to 150 kph.

The vehicle was then abandoned in an alley off Van Horne Crescent N.E. Officers in an unmarked vehicle witnessed the suspects discarding potential evidence before they were arrested nearby.

Terrence CALLENDER, 30, of no fixed address, is charged with dangerous driving, possession of stolen property over $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of break and enter tools, three counts of breaching a recognizance, personation, possession of a controlled substance, operate of a motor vehicle without driver’s licence, and operate a motor vehicle without insurance.

Chad EROSHINSKY, 34, of no fixed address, is charged with occupying motor vehicle without owner’s consent, and obstruction of a peace officer.

The investigation continues and further charges are pending.
